Some advice needed plese. Some time ago I was collared while in my bank, and stupidly agreed to have a chat with the advisor, about upgrading our account. Even more stupidly I agreed to do so, one of the reasons being I was repeatedly told 'it won't cost you anything'. Why not sign up then? However, this is not free, and is actually costing £10 per month and it has just gone up to £12. Do you think we have a leg to stand on if we go into the bank to complain? Will they refund the charges? Please let me know if we are likely to succeed on this?! Thanks!
Go in, see the manager, complain. Don't be agressive, just put your point across, explain what happened, sell yourself as a good customer and that you want to maintain a relationship with the bank. Then ask what are they going to do about your problem - don't offer them a solution. Ideally you want refunds of what you have been charged and reversion to your original account type.
Remember bank staff are now no more than sales staff - every time I go in to my bank (not very often now - thanks to ATMs and the internet) they try and sell me something. What annoys me more is they often ask about services I already get from them anyway. All they are interested in is extracting cash out of you for services you will never use. The £10-12 a month bank accounts are a complete rip off.
Yes I think we need to do it in a calm way, getting lary doesn't help matters sometimes. I can't believe they actually lied to me when I was conned into getting it. I can atually hear the chap saying 'it won't cost you anything' I can't believe he did that. Surely it's false advertising or whatever. A visit to the bank calls next week then.
