Hi there, just wondering if anyone has any advice on the following. We have had our mortgage through Barclays (Woolwich mortgage) for two years now and are looking at having the bathroom and downstairs loo redone. With the mortgage came a 'MORTGAGE RESERVE ACCOUNT' along with a couple of cheque books. Would anyone have some advise (possibly through similar experience) on using the mortgage reserve account? Many thanks. xx

I too have the same mortgage. You can borrow every penny you've paid off your mortgage since first taking it out. So if you borrowed 50,000 and you've currently owe 47,000 you will be able to borrow 3,000. You can do this by giving cheques to people or writing a cheque to yourself and paying it into your current account.
