The programme made excellent viewing and was very funny; I hope they go on to make another series. The clashes of personality between the two owners and between the 2 male staff were very well acted. But is is obviously all an act and a 'spoof documentary'. It reminded me of Nigel Farrell's documentary series set in France, and of course it is a take-off of the series about the couple with the house in Tuscany (which was 'real'). There are also a lot of allusions to Faulty Towers, including the drooping letter in the title, and numerous other details. Last week there was the equivalent of Gourmet Night. In the end, this programme shows up the the fact that really all these 'place in the sun', 'property ladder' reality programmes are staged and highly edited, and that they are all more or less fake. But they ARE entertaining. Paul

hi there. I know them, and I know that the program was lie as almost everyone knows. Anyway I think noone know this.... They fired lovely Thiery :-) and he works in different hotel now. Ann and David did not pay to people who worked for them. that is true. They had really good translater and they fired him/ her of being honest and too helpful. Why is that? they did not pay properly to staff,lyied all the time.... as you can see on tv Ann cryes a lot and thinks that people are so horrible and nasty to her but the true is if they are nice to people and honest everybody would like them... They are not good people in my village and I just do not wish them luck.! will update you

Great entertainment, but can you imagine a more revolting couple of oiks? What a fantastic advertisement for this country - I don't think!
The decor at the chateau closely resembles a tart's boudoir; very appropriate if, as alleged, fatso and the gronk are into swinging parties.

I think it was absolutely disgusting. I dont know who they think they are. I know someone who had the misfortune to meet them when looking for somewhere in Slovakia. They upset him also.(I wont go into details) I think they are heading for a fall if they continue doing what they are doing. I wonder what happened to the other property they owned in Slovakia. Agreed, and it's terrible the way the bride and groom and their party were treated. Absolutely disgusting.
It's time this foul pair received their come-uppance. Sounds as if they are hated in Slovakia.

I am one of the couple who were supposed to be getting married at this place, and I can assure you our part in the production was 100% genuine. There was a great deal more footage shot of us, and it is a shame that some of it wasn't shown as this pair of charlatans offered the earth to us, and then just cancelled our wedding with three weeks to go.
In view of the report in the Mail on Sunday yesterday, does anybody have any more information on this investigation, and does anybody have a UK address for this man?

We met the very nice translator on our visit, and he translated our meeting with the Mayor of Salgovce for the legal arrangements for our wedding.
Do keep us up to date on what is happening to the horrible pair. I feel very sorry for your village as they are trying to make you all look idiots. I think they should have their hotel licence taken away so they can't make your people the joke of this country which is what they are doing.

I was being kind, as i didn't want to insult you  I always thought it was her who was the dark horse, marrying all of those men for money, funny that we've not heard about her in the rags and the men she may have bankcrupted along the way. Hi. She has no children, although you would think she had had five or six from the size of her stomach. He has two boys. He told us himself that his ex-wife would not allow them to visit him in Slovakia and Ann said that the children were not allowed anywhere near him if she was in the vicinity. I wonder why! He is 41 and she says shs is 56 (?!?!?!?) Well, I suggest she sues her plastic surgeon!! And if he is the one they are now trying to flog packages to in Piestany, give them a wide berth!!! |

So me having said all along that it was not staged, which it wasn't for our part in it, it seems the goalposts changed somewhere along the way. By the way, we got no money at all for this, and it cost us quite a lot, especially when took pig faces out for dinner!!! And could they eat!!! |

hey littlefatgit and subeeloo, you two can really bitch for England can't you! Did David liquidate one of your companies when he was an insolvancy practisioner or something(?), -littlefatgit not forgetting your wedding charade- you seem really wound up by this couple. Now I am going to play devils advocate so this 'discussion' is more balanced!
We have met the Darrels, didn't get insulted, and had a good time when we went to the chateau. Quite honestly I can imagine they are not saints, far from it, and I can see a fair bit of play acting in the TV show, but alls fair in the name of entertainment these days, and it made me laugh. Who the hell thinks big brother is reality, but it doesn't stop half of Britain watching it! Also if they have been upto tricks in the past its not our problem or yours, who cares.
Don't let this bullshit put you off a trip to Slovakia, its a jem of a country, bit wild sometimes, just go and enjoy a break there, it wont break the bank.
