I have had numerous problems using the website and more often than not end up phoning EGG up and spending 20 mins or so being transfered from one dept to another
I have an egg card that I havent used for three years or so, I get a mailshot monthly offering a balance transfer, however, the offer is only for new card accounts. They also want me to do all my banking with them, my bank on their website! Nutters!
I had no problems actually using the online system or website. The fact you can't close the account from the website is what got my back up. I am being responsible by reducing my debt and reducing the temptation to increase it but companies like Egg stand in the way of customers actually achieving this easily.
I don't know if this helps any but I never used the Egg card I had and when they sent me my last piece of mail (think it was my new card actually) I cut it up and posted it back to their head office asking them to close the account as I had no requirement for it. They have since emailed me to confirm that this will be done and that is the last I heard. I tend to think putting it in writing get the right response.
Update: I had the e-mail to say it would be closed, then on Friday night a call from Egg which ended up being 20 minutes of why I shouldn't close the account. It was leading to questions about my financial situation and in the end I almost lost my rag and demanded the account be closed forthwith, I think the message sank in! Even after they agreed to do it they tried to offer me some other service which involved borrowing money.
I have to say that I don't agree. I'm a bit of a rate tart and open and close accounts with lots of CC companies. I have found Egg one of the best. Can I suggest that when you phone them, but not at busy times - try after 8pm on an evening. Their call centre staff are among the best I've spoken too and I can tell you I have had numnerous horror stories with other card suppliers and thir call centres. Speak as you find I guess Regards B of a T
