To get the best deal switch to pay as u go. No contracts, no £30 a month fees, and no hassle. Plus, if your phone gets stolen, no worries if someone phones a s*x chatline for 2 hours

Yeah but its not much fun when you have just topped up with 10 or 20 squids!! Plus all your contact numbers and private messages are on display. However you can get round this, and obviously report the loss etc, straight away, so they put a block on it,and the " new owner" cannot use it, whey cool!

In my experience, the best way to get a good deal out of your service provider is to tell them you're leaving.
If you ring up to cancel your contract, they ask you why you want to leave. If you say it costs too much or you want a better handset, they ALWAYS offer you exactly what you want. You might have to haggle with them a bit, but it'll work
yep definitely! call them and tell them you're leaving! I used to work in a mobile phone shop! Always buy direct from the network also, I'd stay away from 3rd party retailers such as Phones4u, Carphone etc, and definitely do not go to independent retailers because they will rip you off!!!
Make sure you haggle with the person on the end of the line trying to keep you - do your research get the best phone (don't ask them what the best phone is - THEY WILL LIE!!! and send you an old phone aka nokia 6230i!) make sure you are getting more minutes, more texts and that you are paying less line rental!!!
Go on pay as you go. I was on 02 and was getting 400 minutes and a 1000 texts for £45, my bill was often £100 even tho I didn't go over my minutes or texts. I changed to pay as you go and for £30 you get 300 mins and 1000 texts plus the £30. They also do heaps of promotions. It works out so much cheaper and with the money you save you can easily get a new phone.
yea, i agree, but it does depend on what u want. when i was looking around, i did find this site, http://www.moneysupermarket.com/MobilePhones/default.aspx, i don't usually recond places, but this was really helpful. i'm a cheapscate and even i got a deal!

If you are with vodaphone make sure you speak to the department that deals with cancelling contracts. They have a special department for this and they can offer you better deals that if you just phoned as a new customer.
I saw recently that a new company may be comming to the market.
It's going to be SIM only. So not a contract, but I'm guessing if you have generally lower bills then this may be the ticket. MAy be worth keeping an eye on.
It's called mobylo
I seem to remember a few years ago easy launched easymobile and was a similar service. I remeber they were really cheap.
