i once saw on tv how a 2p piece was worth up 2 £300 ! Anyone confirm this ? Its not any old 2p but has the year 1983 which is when they turned from two pence to new pence ? im not sure which one it is or if its both but just check yours from now on an maybe youll be lucky ? ive been checking mine since and never come across one 1983 coin ?
Not sure they are worth too much as only 20 years ago!
I saw or heard somewhere that the ones saying "new pence" were worth more but when checking through my purse I found loads of coins with "new pence" as opposed to "two pence" or "five pence" etc.
They might be worth something if you put them away and bequeath them to your grandchildren!

There were loads made in 1997, then the design changed in 1998. It is worth about £2.
There were only about 20 1983 2 new pence coins made and they were in sets, so you've no chance of finding one.
