A large proportion of the population goes to matches, pays to watch on Sky, buys replica shirts and endless amounts of associated merchandise and so on.
That's where the money comes from and will continue to whilst people continue to follow the sport. It doesn't come from the goverment or charity.
So why shouldn't those providing the entertainment get the money?
Because it's players' wages that push the prices up for the people who want to watch. They don't need to be on such high salaries. Their money is paid for by the fans, through ticket sales and through merchandise. Many more people would dearly love to go to the football every home match, but simply can't afford to.
£2000 per week should be sufficient for any player, whether they earn extras for appearances or advertising is up to them to pursue if they wish.

I don't think footballers especially premiereship ones shud get paid a ridiculous amount. I yhink its quite unfair that they get paid something like around £100.000+
cos there are many other non famous footballers who mite play evry saturday or so and u dont see hem lot getting paid the wage of a top class footballer. Do u? how can players get paid just 2 run around a pitch 4 90 minites whether or not they've scored or not?

ok fair play but couldnt they help the world out a little bit? and if they already do, i dont think its enough there are so many ppl out there they could help and they could still be living a glam life.

but WHHHYYYY cant ppl just be decent and think of others in need. obviously im the only one on here who has watched them charity ads where poor little children have legs as thin as twigs and babies crying because they are thirsty and hungry. people having to walk miles for water.
if footballers should happen to share it a bit, or not footballers, the ppl who control all this hideous funding then MAYBE a couple more tiny villages will have a well for some god damn water!!!!! they can have a glass of water and feel happiness inside, whilst another footballer just got his wage slip and thinks oh maybe i should have my own personal this week.
oh and its not just them people there are many other more causes may i add. but while people are in pain and famine i hope all you footballers feel happy with yourselves and when u watch children in need etc YOU have no guilt because you needed to go to that match so badly cos if u didnt u might die!!!
millions of more people could be helped if a little each time was directed to charites.
