I'm very sorry but this program relies on peoples greed. the t v companies swamp us with programs like bargain hunt bbc 2 has shot properties up beyond 1st time buyers in every country in europe. everything depends on peoples greed. I hope they all go home with 50p. Do not forget, television is not all it seems, it is produced for the public and NOT in that order!
Not quite sure what to make of that comment, D&L. How does Bargain Hunt, a show about digging up seemingly worthless tat to sell on for more than you bought it for, contribute to rising house prices in Britain? Maybe you could clarify. We may have to warn the producers that they're putting off 1st time buyers.
With regards to Deal or No Deal, yes, it does rely on people's greed. That's exactly what makes it fun to watch. And it's remarkable just how many people are greedy enough to wittle the boxes down to the last one in the vain hope that they'll get more money!
Am absolutely addicted to Deal or No Deal. The best game show for a long time.
It's great that the same people stay on the show until it's their time to actually play - by that time you've got to know their personality slightly more so that you actually care whether they do well or not.
I heard that it's going to be broadcast at a later slot cos it's got so popular - is that true??
Well i was addicted to it, i used to watch it while entering on line but after a couple of weeks the home page appearance was changed and now where the three box's were that you could choose 1,2 or 3 there's now just some links, so why was it changed and how can you now select the box number for on line entries???? you still advertise on the show that folks can enter on line question is how!!!
Well it's a game of 90% luck. What skill is involved in choosing which order to open a box? Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy watching the show and would love to have the chance of being a contestant, but there's no skill involved. Why do people think that? The remaining 10% skill is whether you have enough guts to deal when the banker calculates the odds are at the time in your favour with a large sum of money.
In response to tigerwuds: the boxes that had the question marks earlier didn't take you to the free-to-enter form. It's there on the left-hand navigation.
What started out as curiosity has now turned into MUST SEE TV! My daughter and I are hooked and my hubby gets home in time to see the last 15 minutes. I am also curious to know how much Elaine went away with on Saturday as I had to go out. Must say that I absolutely loathed arrogant Andy and did not want him to get anything You could well do without people like him on your telly. More lovable folk like Rob or Jason that you can root for is what we need. Or shows like yesterdays with Joanne...gripping stuff Feel sorry for those contestants that have been stood there for weeks. Get Karen or 'the duchess' on

Hope that helps.

Hmmm, thanks Andy i've been under a mis comprehension, i assumed you had to pick the right box number first then fill out the form and try to obtain acceptance into the draw, i was using the original boxes on the page to select my box i now interpret your response as you don't need to select the correct box number if your entry is accepted from the entry form your in the draw regardless of the number selected by a member of the audience at the end of the show, please correct me if i've mis-understood!!
This programme is a joke. IT is simple and is statistically probable that the contestant will only come away with a good deal if the 'baer' makes him a reasonable offer. However there is no 'banker'. The 'banker' is simply an executive in chrage of production who speaks to Noel through an ear piece and the telephone s just a prop. The people in charge of production can work out (from the boxes chosen and the laws of probability - remember the contestant has to take 3 guesses each time) whether or not the player has a high value box. Also if he/she does then the programme simply maes a good offer, eg. £8,000 and the contestant then takes it because this is a good sum of money for participating in a tv show. Channel 4 make this money back several hundred times over from advertising revenue so it is small money to them. While it is nice to see Noel back on the television, he is clearly desperate for work otherwise he wouldn't have taken this ridiculous job as the presenter. Although he eveidently is trying. The contestants all look like actors and it is impossible to enter the money box competition online. This is because channel 4 make much more money from the phone calls which are charged at £1 a minute.
The only winner is Channel 4 in this game which is not captivating and can clearly be seen for what it is. The 'Banker' and production team are in control and when they want the player to make a 'deal' they simply offer a reasonable sum of money. The player has no control over the game.
Yes, I know that the "banker" is just a construct and the phone thing is silly. I still think, though, that there is something addictive and compulsive about this programme.
I've tried to enter online but, as was mentioned above, I'm always "unsuccessful" too!
I'd agree that the programme is based on greed to some extent, but part of the attraction is that some people can end up winnoing 50p. Yesterday's contestant Andy was a nice soul though, and I was glad when he went away with £13,000!
Saw this programme while we lived in Australia. While the format is as good, I think Noel is trying a bit too hard to be funny and is not good enough to hold the suspense of the viewer. But I do like seeing him on the TV again!
Hi all after reading some posts i can confirm a couple of things which seem to by-pass those that watch the program.Firstly the banker,i have seen the contestants on several occasions speak to the banker on the phone and as Noel says he is a real person wether in the role of a professional banker is always left to the imagination. As far as the on-line entry for the cash prize,do persist i have had entry's accepted many times you can enter upto 50 times per show, not won anything though, but if your not init you cannae win it!.All the best for 2006
I usually get a couple of windows up and start entering in alternate windows about 5 mins before the programme starts and am usually successful, so stick with the online entry cos it is possible to succeed.
Well i also enter on line the best i've done over the duration of a show is 6 successful entries, however for the the last two consecutive shows i think some ones tweaking the server for over half of the shows the web site as been unavailable, what is interesting and indeed VITAL if not essentialy Vital is that you never know how the winner entered, as there ever been a free online contestant winner??? will there ever be a free on line contestant winner?? how is the winner chosen?? maybe only the Banker will ever know!!!
The best plan for a contestant is simple – calculate the average of the un-opened boxes. If the “banker” offers more than this average – accept his offer.
I have not seen the banker offer this amount in the real game before the contestant opens the box. His offers are rarely more than 50% of this average sometimes only 5% (but he claims he would have offered 100% after the contestant’s box is opened).
Noel needs to alter his chatter with this in mind.
Does anyone else feel that the audience is getting a bit too loud? Saturday and today were a decibel or ten higher than normal Starting to get fed up with Noel(I still like him) and the same patter every day. Things like 'pivotal moment' and 'crucial' and 'we musn't see the big numbers' are wearing a bit thin. Still a good show though.

I went to see DOND being filmed last night and it was really good. I was sat right at the front and so I was more nervous about the cameras than wanting **** to do well. Show goes out on the 26th. Noel was lovely (so tiny!) and the crew did a good job. The contestants all seem to get on so well and are really relaxed. Def going to see it again.
