Hi Tigerwuds. You are indeed right - the form says 50 times, whilst someone has changed this number to 30 times without amending the copy on the Flash form. I have requested this to be changed asap. Andy

quote: The best plan for a contestant is simple – calculate the average of the un-opened boxes. If the “banker” offers more than this average – accept his offer.
Ah - but not quite. Let's look at a situation where there's a 1p, a 10p, a 50p, a £1, a £5, a £10 and the £250,000. The average is £35,716.66 but (frankly) there's a values judgement too - you're going to win big or lose big if you carry on, and the real test is whether the Banker's offer is meaningful to you. Suppose the banker offered £10,000 at that point. It's lower than the average, so the maths say 'keep going'. Would you? Personally, I would like (but don't need) an extra £10,000 - it's a game, so I'd keep going an be delighted if I won £250,000 and still be able to smile if I won 1p - but for some folks even £10,000 is the 'life-changing sum of money' that NE waffles on about. You can also say, in that situation - it's 6 to 1 that I'm going to win small anyway, so ANYTHING he offers is probably going to be good! Whether the banker plays above, below or above the average, by the end of a series he's STILL out of pocket on the 'bet' - because the contestants don't put up a stake anyway - but they've calculated the telephone rental anyway so either way he wins! I love it!

A few points....1.The show is addictive and like Millionaire without Tarrant, I couldn't see anyone else doing it really apart from Edmonds. 2.I always get through online at least once 3.I always presumed the show was live/unedited but last Saturday, 5 minutes before a woman opened her box which contained the quarter of a mill, you had already seen her with no box in front of her! This puzzled me no end but I'm sure someone can explain this poor piece of editing..or can they?

Indeed. Tonight (Saturday)the woman had boxes for 1p and £10,000 but accepted the offer of £4,000 (and found that her box had the £10,000). But I'd have gone for it because I could live without the £4,000 - and so may as well try for the £10,000.

I've been in the audience for a few shows and it's 'nearly live'. They film 3 a day and they each take about an hour. I think in this run they're doing about 200 shows. I've only ever seen Noel redo one take but slip ups happen!

I am by nature sceptical it comes from a life time of believing nothing that i hear and only half of what i see, now i know channel 4 have made a form of statement that all entries are entered regardless of source into the viewers draw and yet Noel only ever refers to those who have phoned in, never to those who have entered, now the programme as been running for some weeks would it be possible to issue a ratio of winners relative to method of entry??? might just be a little more re-assuring to see some statistics generated.

In response to gandolf123, I have never been able to have a successful response the many times I have tried to enter online for the daily chance to win some money. As for being able to enter 30 times - I am on very fast broadband but keep getting the same page that says ....waiting I know the online entry is free...maybe they pretend that 50% of online entries get through.

Sorry Tag2006, because there is a live phone entry the show has to be screened live. With no editing. I was wondering if they really kept that phone ringing all the way through the adverts tonight.lol

ALLU TU! Having watched the Spanish version of this show for three weeks solid I was looking forward to seeing the englo version. Imagine how shocked I was when I found a cut-price show with a deadbeat ex Celeb host on a boring and less colourful attempt by Channel four? The spanish verion was FUN, BRIGHT and hosted by a relative unknown! OVERALL VERDICT;- A Bad attempt by C4 resembling the sad outcome of Celeb Big Brother!

No, it is pre-recorded. I've been in the audience a couple of times. All the sound effects and visual bits (eg the deal) are done post-filming. You'll notice that Noel never says the name of who won the money at the end.

Two things that I have noticed recently. 1) When Aileen and Linda got chosen this week they appeared to me to be more "glammed up" than usual. Aileen had her hair curled and Linda had lipstick on. Did they know that was to be "their" day? 2) How come they manage to have the players family member in the audience on that particular day? Or are they in the audience anyway?

I think this is an amazing show, and it's one of the few things I actually make an effort to watch. I also applaud More4 for repeating it later in the evening for my girlfriend to watch.
It's such a simple idea and has none of the pretentiousness of other game shows that try to make people think they have anything more than a random chance at winning the jackpot.
I think it's interesting that the greedy people tend to go away with very little while sensible people that play for themselves at reasonable levels go away with significant money.

My Take on DOND Love the show - been watching it for about a month now, almost daily. Some people have labelled contestants "greedy" personally I would be hoping for a five figure sum, once I got there I'd deal - I wouldnt fancy playing a one box game. So my theory would be the £10K box is the seperator - anything below is good, anything above is bad. Obviously as the game progresses you may have to alter your aspirations but its a good starting point. Presenter Noel Edmonds is excellent - I am surprised no one has mentioned sticking the banker in the gunge tank (referring to Noel's House Party) yet Favourite contestant was Geordie - its a real shame he couldnt get a decent amount. Regarding the online competition - has anyone found a form filler that works with this - All those I have tried dont work and its a pain filling the same info in time and again. Lastly has anyone played this and know where to get it for free http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Deal-or-No-Deal-PC-Game-with-Noel...QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Its only a quid but if its available somewhere for free why waste your money. If no one has it I will buy it and share it Russ

Your life must be miserable tigerwuds........... your take on life is that it's all one big conspiracy theory. It's a good show, great fun, and viewers feel as if they are part of the fun. You, however, are far too suspicious to enjoy it. Loosen up please.
