We are looking at a new build home. 1st phase released and 3 homes to sell before they release their next phase (about 5 phases in total) the house is on at £169995. Is it possible to negotiate on price with a big house builder ie knocking 10K off the house price? The house is due for completion in April and we still have our house to sell. We really can't afford the full asking price but if they could drop by 10k then we can afford it. Any advice/opinions needed! Has anyone managed to do this or is it just when they have finished a development and need to move on to their next?
I think you have to be in a good negotiating position first, ie sell your house. But once you've done that we got 5% deposit, all legal fees and carpets throughout so yes it can be done before they are completed. The builders know that houses are standing empty up and down the country at the moment so I would imagine would be very keen to talk to you.
