Got something to say about Premiership footballers' salaries and nurses' wages? Say it here. Find out more about the The Million Pound Footballers' Giveaway, (C4, Thurs 7th June, 9pm) and Dr Noreena Hertz's campaign to get footballers to give a day's wages to a nurses' hardship fund here. Ed
I admire Noreena Hert'z! She is one of very few amazing people in the world. Ive grown up going in and out of hopsitals, being cared by nurses. I have kidney failure, and I am dialysis. I was taught by nurses at a PD clinic, how to use a dialysis machine, and they were under so much stress, and yet were able to handle everything very well. I hope something is done by the soon to be PM Gordon Brown, Im sure he knows himself how much work nurses do.
Before I go, Id like to state how sick and disgusting I found half of the premiership footballers were, not giving up one days wage to help the great people on this planet. These people should be named and shamed! I am disgusted!
But well done to Dr Hert'z, a truely fantastic women.
Fed up with this sort of programme, there are a lot more professional groups in the health service than nurses, who are on equally low pay. Under AFC nurses did well and many received substantial pay increases, unlike PAMS and others who received pay cuts dropping them well below nurses salaries. This sort of programme needs to highlight the situation affecting health service professionals, rather than just nurses.
Agreed many sportmen, celebrities, and musicians do earn obscene amounts.
During the program she met Glen Roeder, the then manager of Newcastle. After meeting him she was given a piece of prose which captured his atitued to life. Does anybody recognise the piece know where to get it as my wife would like to hear it again ?
i thought it just seemed like an email send out , if you know odd words you'll find it on the net .
there is a thing about this , tose footie players , about £2000 per day earning , she wants one days pay from loads of them equals lots of money , not do they need so much money or can 2 days a year or so tehy give up one days pay ,
to me there are more things urgentl needing money than nurses , hey maybe even more hospital equipment would be more of a priority in some places not everywhere on earth has what we do ,
