No more landfill that way, we'd have to find a cheap way to do it mind. Or how about using the rubbish to make fuel?

Or dumping the rubbish in volcanoes?

Any other ideas?

Surely doing either of those things would be a monstrous waste of energy?

Anyway, a volcano is just a giant incinerator which produces enough poisonous gas as it is.

A better idea would be to blast habitually wasteful people into space and let them get on with it Wink

Space debris will cause severe damage to satellites and also future space craft. Even a grain of sand travelling at the high velocities can cause severe damage to a satellite solar array. An empty bottle would virtually destroy the satellite on impact. Extreme disruption would then occur to the communications system.

Actually, that might be quite a good idea Devil Then all those addicted to their mobiles would have to find something more purposeful to do Wink

The rocket would have to attain escape velocity to get away from earths orbit and away from satelites orbiting the earth. Similar to the Saturn rockets.

The resources and energy required would mean your council tax bill would be a few £million per year.

The majority of mobile phones run of land-based network cells I think. So I don't think they would be disrupted as such.

What would you like them to do if they are not on their mobiles?? Maybe join a forum, and burn oodles of electricity with lights, monitors, printers, internet connections, ooo like we are doing at the moment. Got to go, i have a call to answer on my mobile.

dont you get it? there is no waste, its just a bad idea we came up with last century, we shouldn't be wasting anything, but reusing it!

an interesting theory....

aside from the fact you would need to figure out a different way of getting it up there, i.e. a space lift, or something of that nature....i guess you would then suggest we send it off into the sun...

congrats, it sounds neat and tidy....however i can see a small flaw in your brilliant plan.

firstly, you would increase the gravitational pull of the sun over a long period of time.....but more worryingly, and most importantly...

you would DECREASE the weight of the earth over time.....

billions of tonnes of weight would be leached from the planet.....

"so what?" i hear you ask...

consider this...

we currently fall around the sun in a delicately balanced orbit.....if you change the weight, you will change the orbit....even a few hundred miles in either direction would be catastrophic!!!

therefore.....nice idea, but definately not one which would save the planet....good try though.

lol! Wink I'm still at work as I type this (the sad geek that I am! Ninja). I probably wouldn't use a computer if I didn't require it for work (I am probably one of the few that is yet to go 'online' at home). My biggest energy waste luxury is a small lava lamp in the lounge Razz
