IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

Asda have now changed the make of plastic carrier bags that they use.
As of NOW they are all recyclable plastic number 2 which as you know is one of the only types of plastic that is actually recycled in this country. well done Asda!
with any luck the plastics reprocessers will realize this and accept them.

Interesting stuff.
The problem is in my area (and probably others) the local authorities will only accept easily identifiable plastic packaging which basically means plastic bottles only (drinks, kitchen cleaning, toiletries etc.).

However it obviously requires all manufacturers to make the effort to change so that local authorities can accept materials other than plastic bottles.
So this is good news, it should help eventually.

your right, in fact even some of the toiletry bottles you are putting in the recycling might not be getting recycled if they are not plastics 1 or 2.

there needs to be uniformity agreed between the manufactrers to only use plastics 1 and 2.

then recycling will be soooo much easier, and companies will find they make mroe of a profit aswell.

but at least its a step in the right direction!
