Well thats it teh last of the dumped, and i have to say, i was really impressed.
This was a reality show with a meaning, and that meaning got through to me.
I'm terrible at throwing away rubbish, i throw away bags of it, thing is what scares me, is eventually what happens when they run out of space. My son has to live on this earth long after me, What will he have to face?

I throw away stuff that really i could give to a charity shop, or sell on the lovely ebay. and as for recycling plastics, even though the council dont provide any recycling oppurtunities round here, i should make an effort to find the nearest recyling tips.

That aside, Ihave to praise Ian, he was by far the best one on there, he wanted to make the best of it, with very little help. and i commend him on his attitude.

Well done channel 4!

Your post makes alot of sense. But the thing is, if we were all to start doing exactly what this program said then your comment about ebay would leave a HUGE carbon footprint as the post office needs to ship via van to other places and in some cases via plane

this is what i dont like about the program because it is basically telling us to shun any advances in technology to lower our carbon footprint

If a hospital is emmiting a high carbon footprint is it fair to turn off all the life support, basically the only point i feel this program had was to alienate people to not to use the things we need in the modern world

ok ebay was a bad choice of words but i do throw away plenty that can be used, and it has made me think twice,

my point is really more that even if every one does just one little bit just a little bit can you imagine how much difference that would make.

A lot of the problem i think is down to the manafacturers. They all need to choose a recyclable plastic packaging that is the same and and glass that is the same colour etc . can you imagine what that would do alone.
so it would be so simple to recycle, thats half the problem. Its not taht peole dont want to recycle, they cant be bothered, in this day and age when people aree so busy, teh thought of coming home, and sorting out tehir rubbish doesnt appeal.

I dont know, Im not one to talk obviously as i dont do it, but from now on I will make an effort to reduce my rubbish.

I see your point, it is hard to lower carbon emmissions whilst keeping up with new advances in technology. It is a shame we didnt make the new technology with green issues in mind. However you can still use them, but just cut down on the amount of time you do.

Me and Selena are currently working on a website, which we hoped to be up in time for the program but we are a bit behind, on being green but in a modern way, none of this turn off lights, and recycle business, because thats what wveryone knows, but a simple way to bring down your carbon emmissions and keep your daily routine!

I hope this to be up in the next week or two, but i fear we missed the oppurtunity of using the program to promote this!

Hey Lawrence! I'll certainly visit whenever you get it up and running - I expect this forum is going to stick around for a while longer...

By the way, they didn't show much of your efforts in building the permanent shelter - shame - I'm off to the Dumped website to see if there is any more...

I agree about Ian. He didn't complain, he just got on with it. I heard him being interviewed on Irish radio and its obvious that the whole experience has made him change his ways. I'd say all of them did take something away from it but he was definately my favourite.

Personally I learnt lots from the programme. I know alot of people are complaining because it seemed to be contrived but in my opinion it didn't matter, it was all about educating us and I think it succeeded on that front. Even reading the forums have taught me a thing or two!
