No - I think it's a closely guarded secret - like the location of the big brother house (which is in Borehamwood, next to Tescos...)

I think they built it specially - which is what they said on Richard and Judy (so don't delete this post for giving away information that R&J have already divulged, you mean mods!).

i don't think its a secret where it was filmed, it was on the tip in Beddington industrial area, in Croydon. The site was actually awesome to see, its a 40 acres of land, which I think was once a quarry, being slowly covered in a carpet of waste 200 feet high (67m). Its like a mountain, and part of what is sort of shocking about it is that it is so near to major housing developments etc. I spent three weeks there, helping with the technical side of the challenges, and strange to say the dump also has its own kind of beauty. Lots of birds and wildlife, and when the sun was setting and the noise and dust had subsided because all the lorries had stopped it was almost scenic. But I have to say seeing lines of huge lorries queuing up every morning to bring more waste really brings home how totally unsustainable it all is.

S. Jones does the programme highlight any of the issues that the land fill have to worry about. ie the wild life issues regarding the birds on site and the local bird watching groups. Or the pressure they are under to meet the ever tighting regulations that are imposed on the landfill?
Half full, half empty. Your chose

Hi Steve (Jones) - thanks for sharing your experiences of the set. I completely agree with your views, and the aims of the programme - the only problem is that it should have been made 20 years ago!
I was suprised almost 10 years ago just how green Yugoslavia/Croatia was, and how backward we are by comparison. They had PET markings on most of their bottles for recycling long before it started over here, and under Tito, in 1970's, the Croat-Slovene Krsko nuclear power station was built, with the ability to transfer its waste heat to heating the majority of homes in Zagreb, rather than dumping it all in the atmosphere as we stupidly do, providing free heating in the winter. We continually heard from Thatcher about what "advances" privatisation will bring - energy companies are hardly going to provide the means of free heat if their main motive is profit. Its not just Beddington - our whole country is a dump.
