IMO, the Pearl Station is not the big question mark in the middle of the map, notice that the sign was a circle, and remember Yemmi saying to not get distracted from the main task. The Pearl is one of the Dharma stations, and on this link it says on the right of the ? C4 The Pearl?.
I'm pretty sure that the question mark will be found later on series 3/4?, and we may find the kids there or Alvar Hanso, or something else very mysterious.
I think you're right. The circle thing was too much of a giveaway. The new shaft didn't tell us anything new. It was obvious the whole number-pushing thing was a psychological experiment.

They were supposed to find the Pearl, it tests Locke in a way he's never been tested before.

i agree i think that is what mr. eko realises that it is just a ploy, see locke looks at everything at face value, and i think he dosent realise the real test is the people writing the crap not the ones pushing the button. looks to me like locke is just loosing faith in the island, and after everything it has done for him.

do you think that locke and mr eko will tell the others about the pearl seeeing as locke hasnt mentioned the uv lights that lit up during the lockdown? also do you think that they will return to the pearl?
another silly question. michael mentioned the others having a hatch guarded with 2nguns, do you think they may be part of the dharna initiative?

im not too sure as to whether or not he will, i think that eko may just take over pressing the button without really much explaining.

well im not to sure on that point, maybe they are maybe they arent. i think you have to look back at the boone episode in series 1 to get a clear indication as to what the dreams mean (i think locke tells him, but i cant be bothered to get my dvd and watch it to tell you the reason, locke says they are having the dreams).

i still think the button is real despite the video and that Eko will probably take over lockes job it was obviouse lock doesnt care about the whole fate n destiny thing. i read on this other forume that the pearl video might have been made BEFORE the incident so maybe the button actualy does do something. i dont get why the other losties dont tell jack or the other people about what they find havent they heard about sharing.lol i dont think that was the "?" thats got to be way more important and why would you call it the question mark when you already know the name of it : the pearl.

I was a little disappointed too, I was expecting some big kickass DHARMA HQ, but it was not to be, I guess I just built up my expectations of the ? a little too much...

I really do think that the pearl is not the ?, there are couple of them dotted around the balst door map, and besides, it feels like there's much more to it, hopefully it will be brought into much more in season 3...
