Well....time for me to add my (more than) two cents....
WARNING! THIS POST CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR SEASON 2. DO NOT READ IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO BE SPOILED, AS THEY WILL NOT BE WRITTEN IN WHITE!Right, here goes..
Sawyer & KateSawyer and Kate seem to have a very complex relationship. It is obvious that Sawyer has feelings for Kate, and it's pretty obvious that she has feelings for him too. But their realtionship is very..how should i put it?..'immature'..if you get what i mean. It's the kind of 'I-fancy-her-so-i'll-pull-her-pigtails' type of relationship. One that, in my oppinion, cannot go very far. Nobody can deny that there is a strong chemistry between the two, but Sawyer is bad for Kate. We saw this in 'Outlaws' when they played the drinking game. Many SKaters see this as a moment for SKate, when they open up to eachother. But in my oppinion, although they do open up to eachother, Sawyer opens up all the badness inside Kate..bringing everything she has done in the past, everything she wanted to forget on the island back to the surface. Not a good thing.
The Kiss:The SKate kiss was, like their relationship, a very complex one.
There is the obvious Jater argument that 'Sawyer was tied to a tree and forced Kate to kiss him in order to get the inhalers..' This is true, but i don't think Kate really needed to kiss him the way she did, or for as long as she did..
There was a lot of emotion in that kiss, but it was completely ruined by the context that the kiss was put into. Kate was indeed 'forced' to kiss Sawyer. It was a pathetic attempt from Sawyer to get some 'action' going on between him and Kate, and i am glad he got that punch afterwards. He deserved it for being such a pig..
The raft:The whole raft thing, and the episodes around it, were one of the SKate moments (though i hate to say it) that i though was really kinda cute..
In 'Born to Run' we see how upset Sawyer makes Kate by exposing her identity to the entire camp. I thought this was really horrible, and heartless. But then i started thinking..perhaps he did that because he didn't want Kate to go on the raft. Perhaps he was protecting her from the dangers, and also, perhaps he thought it would make it easier for him to say goodbye....
Later on in Exodus, Kate offers to go with Jack on the trip with Danielle. Throughout this scene she seemed on the verge of tears, and i think it was because she was thinking about the prospect of Sawyer leaving..she was also thinking that by going on the hike, she would be able forget about Sawyer. And she didn't want to be there to watch him leave.
Then we get the bottle moment, in season 2. This is the 'cute' moment for me. Kate was really upset when Sun mentioned that the bottle had washed up onshore, and the line
"I didn't say goodbye" was quite touching.
There is also the pill scene, but it's late and i'm tired! And i need to stop depressing myself with all this SKate....
Basically..i think that with everything that is going on between Jack & Kate, a fling with Sawyer is an almost certainty. But i feel that this wont last very long, and Kate will see the light and go running into the arms of....Jack!
Jack & KateJack and Kate's relationship is also a very complicated one. But in a very different way. While Sawyer and Kate's may be complicated because they are so similar, Jack and Kate's is comlicated because they are so different.
But, you know what they say....opposites attract!
And this is definately the case with Jack and Kate! No SKater can deny that there is
something between Jack and Kate!
Kate and Jack have a much more mature relationship. The understand eachother, and Jack is gradually helping Kate to become a better person. Like he says in Tabula Rasa
"We should all be able to start over."Jack knew that Kate didn't really want to tell him what she had done, and he didn't pressure her into it. Infact, he told her he didn't want to know. He likes Kate regardless of her past, he accepts he for who she is and not how perfect she is.
The Kiss:Ah..the kiss! Many SKaters use the argument
"Kate was crazy and confused, she didn't know what she was doing and she ran away afterwards" While it may be true that she was pretty unstable at the time, but the reason she kissed him was because he was so understanding. He comforted her and, for Kate that was the last straw. She has wanted to kiss him for so long and the way he calmed her down just made her go for it.
But, despite all that, she
didrun away afterwards (crazy lady..running away from Foxy like that..) which takes away a few Jater points i'm afraid....
But, regardless of running away (which i think she only did because she felt she has made a mistake) that was a much more beautiful kiss, and it didn't end with either of the getting hit in the jaw..
Guava seeds, Golf, showers & food:Just some of the many, many Jate scenes that prove they have a sweet relationship.
Guava Seeds - This was a beautiful scene. The smile on Kate's face was lovely to see, and it just shows how happy Jack makes her, because this was the first 'real' smile we had seen from Kate throughout the first 13 episodes.
Golf - Oh the flirty, flirty golf!! That was some major Jate there. The raised eyebrows and 'accuracy' were so great you were almost like 'Sawyer who?'
But then he came back..*shudders*....lets leave it here while we are still thinking about the flirtyness!
Showers - For all you people who think Jack is gay, this is the scene that proves you wrong!
The look on his face after she walked past him....need i say anymore?
Sharing Food - This was another 'happy scene' that showed just how much they make eachother smile. The face on Jack when she took his food was adorable! And, of course, we got that all too rare 'real' smile from Kate!
The *sigh* ignoring..Well....Jate at the moment aint looking too good is it..
But..i feel this is just an obstacle they have to get through. Let them both use Sawyer and Ana-Whats-her-face to get over this and they will be back on track soon!
Phew...that was a long post. You all still awake?
But yeah..basically, i feel that it will be a SKate fling, but Jate all the way for ever and ever.
BTW, there will probably be like a gazillion typos in that, but it's just cause i'm really really tired!!
