I was saying basically that 'The Island' wanted them there. Locke was saying that 'The Island' gave him back the use of his legs, that IT wanted them to find the Hatch and that IT wanted them to get in and that IT would give them a sign to help them find out how, then he saw the beachcraft and decided that was the sign. So he and Boone go to find the crashed plane but he starts having trouble with his legs and says 'The Island' is taking the aility away again. So we have to ask 'Why is it doing that?' Maybe because IT's frustrated that they're not solving things quickly enough? After they discover the drugs in the statues in the plane and it falls from the canopy Locke's legs are working ok again. So, were they meant to find the drugs? And if so what is the significance of that, unless it's to later test Charlie's resolve, for some reason?
Locke and Boone have been working on the Hatch for several days now, to no avail and with no signs of life. After the beechcraft incident a light now comes on inside the hatch. Is this now a sign that they'll be able to find a way to open it? And if so what did they do to bring this about? Was it finding the drugs in the beachcraft that allowed this to happen, or was it something else? Maybe it is not an action by any one person that affects what they are trying to do directly, but an action within the group! So maybe the beachcraft incident has nothing to do with the hatch, but is significant for some later action and it was something done by someone else that is significant to the hatch. Was it one action, or a combination of actions? Maybe Hurley had to meet Danielle to advance progress with the hatch. If so was it purely the meeting? Or was finding out that the numbers were significant to her being on the island as well and that they had been broadcasting until Danielle changed the broadcast to her SOS part of what was required? Maybe the burning of the raft is significant to something as well!
The numbers have played a part in Danielle's life and also in Hurley's. For all I know, at this point (series 1, episode 19) they might have some significance in all of their lives. Maybe they feature in someones telephone number. Maybe Locke paid $2,481.51 for the flight and $623.42 for the 'Walkabout' trip, etc.?
