Something else I noticed too: The Turbine Man survives the initial crash of Flight 815 with the middle section passengers. However, in the chaos on the beach immediately after the crash, Turbine Man meets his demise. Turbine Man is sucked into the jet engine that's still powering up and down amongst the wreckage. This causes the engine to explode, and sends Turbine Man to meet his maker. I have named him the Turbine Man as we do not know his name, but if you look at his face I think it is the same actor as Mr Friendly/Zeke!! ,,,.,== NINJA CAT My Little Pony is due on 14th December ♡ Zoanthropy = the delusion that one is an animal  The Lost Forum - saved 29 Aug 08

The monster is'nt in the pilot episode, whatever that stuff is (if it's anything other than a relic of the special effects), it's not the monster... quote: the explosion of the engine was caused by a guy getting sucked up into the works, not the smoke monster. whatever it is that people see on the freeze frame - it is NOT the black smoke monster.

the monster does not appear anywhere in the pilot or in the other 48 days as a manifestation of black smoke.
