1. How do you think females are represented in Lost?
I think that females are represented extremely, being portrayed as strong and brave [Not that we aren't Wink]

2. Do you think there are any stereotypical characters in Lost?
I think that one of the points in Lost is that at a first glance they all seem steotypical, but when you get into the flashbacks you realise there is more to the characters than what meets the eye.

3. When did you start watching Lost, and how did you hear about it?
I started watching since the first ever episode aired on Channel 4. I saw the advertisments on the television and my sisters said they were going to watch it so I thought I might aswell.

4. Can you pinpoint the main reason you enjoy the show, or what aspects intrest you most?
There are many reasons why I enjoy the show. One of the main reasons is that there is a point to every episode and it adds more and more to the plot each time [Except maybe Expose, Season 3]. I also like the fact that the writers have made it so completely out of the box that there's no way you can guess what's going to happen next, unless you read spoilers :P.

5. Who is your favourite character in Lost and why?
My favourite character would have to be...Locke or Sawyer. Sawyer ecause he's hot [Wink] and has good one liners and Locke because he's always been so intriguing to me ever since the first episode. A lot of things on the island have happened because of him [Hatch imploding, Submarine blown up etc.] and I enjoy it when he gets into the middle of all the action.

1) I think, in general, females are portrayed quite well in Lost. Claire can be a bit of a drip sometimes, but the likes of Kate and Juliet are strong and dont take any nonsense GREAT!

2)Hmmm, well I spose they have tried to have a selection of people across society, as opposed to stereotypes as such. I think the great thing about it is that, if you re-watch the old episodes and remember what you used to think about the different characters (I used to think Sayid had blown the plane up!) after you see them on island and in their flashbacks, you feel like you know them and understand their motivations. I think that Lost has actually challenged the stereotypes that the audience came up with.

3) I have watched Lost from the start, I saw it advertised and thought it was intriguing. I thought it was going to be different, but I didnt know just how different!

4) I enjoy the show for lots of reasons. It has lots of mysteries, it makes you think one thing, then the next episode completely changes your mind. It has a good mix of action, romance, mystery, storyline, excellent characters and rather oddly, a very believable storyline (despite the fact its kinda not believeable, if you know what I mean!)

5) That is a difficult one, coz it changes quite a lot and not one really stands out. I like Jacks character, I can relate to his struggles, but I love Hurleys character - he is just so likeable and brings light relief to the show. I think if i really had to pick one, it would be Ben. He is probably one of the best ever "baddies" (if he does actually turn out to be one!) that has ever been invented on tv or film. He is clever, intuitive, instinctive, conniving, sly, yet you can feel so sorry for him and believe him despite the fact he lied to you 2 minutes earlier!! fantastic.

1. I think the females are represented really well.. they are treated equally to the guys eg) Kate is one of the main ones who does a lot of the bold heroic things. I also think that a lot of the female characters are portrayed as tough and brave; Ana lucia was, Juliet is, and nikki was quite strong aswell.

2. I think that there are some stereotypical characters, but like previous people ahve said you then get to learn about their past and realise there is more to their character than meets the eye; eg. Shannon was like your typical 'dumb blonde', and many people on the island didn't trust Sayid because of his nationality, and Charlie because of his use of drugs and his 'rockstar' image. But like i said once you learn more about their past via the flashbacks you realise there is more to them.

3. I started to watch lost when it first started back in spring/summer 2005.. i saw it advertised constantly on channel 4 and thought it looked really interesting; i remember an advert which showed kate and jack sitting by the fire and jack had made a model plane out of leaves and was explaining how they must have crashed.. ohh those were the days aha Smile

4. There are soo many reasons why i love lost, but i think the main ones have to be because its different from any other programme thats been on before, and it just keeps you absolutely hooked wanting to know what happens next - i absolutely love the idea of character centric episodes and flashbacks, as it helps you to understand the characters more and you can begin to piece the story together. I also love how freaky it is with all the weird things going on like how the characters keep seeing things creep up from their lives before the crash eg; numbers, family members/friends (jacks dad, tom sawyer, dave, yemmi etc). Its just such a great show Smile

5. To be honest i like all the characters in lost, but my favourites would have to be Jack (because he is HOT :P), Juliet because i think shes a strong character, and after learning about how she got on the island and her sister and everything i began to feel sorry for her, and Locke because hes so open-minded, and into fate and all that.. he makes the show really interesting with all his theories Smile

Hope this helps and sorry i rambled on a bit :P

1) As others have said, I think the females are portrayed as strong women, although Kate can be too strong at times and needs to let her softer side come through a bit more. I think we've seen this both with Jack and Sawyer, but her defences quickly go back up. But I suppose on the Isand with everything that happens, they have to and with her past, it makes sense. I'm glad Sun was able to find her voice and her partnership with Jin is more equal. I think the only woman/girl that was really lame was Shannon, but she's gone now so...

2) I agree with what everyone has said so far. For some reason I'm very drawn towards thinking Jack is a stereotype, he's made himself, or the character has been made to be a savour in many ways, he NEEDS to help, save and particularly fix people. Are doctors like that, hmmm, I think some can be but I think for him the issue of having to fix things goes a lot deeper, issues with his dad etc etc so again, once you see the flashbacks you understand.

3) I've watched it from the start. The advert of them on the beach and the 'one of us' line had me REALLY intrigued. It looked and sounded amazing and it was not like anything else I had seen or heard before.

4) It's just kept me hooked. I wish it wasn't as slow or drawn out sometimes, but obviously THAT'S the thing that has kept me watching cos I want/need lol to know what happens next even though I know it might take god knows how any weeks to get some answers. Also I think once you start watching and really get into it and come onto boards like this one to discuss it, you cant stop watching.

5) I really dont know if I have one favourite. I like Kate, Sawyer, Hurley, Jack has his moments, Sayid I like so I dont think I can pinpoint it to one character. One who I didn't particularly like was Tom and I was glad when Sawyer shot him, he deserved it!

1. How do you think females are represented in Lost?
As everyone has said they are mainly portrayed as very strong characters who will stand up for themselves. I think of Kate, Juliet, Danielle, Ana Lucia, Sun stood up to Jin, Claire stood up to Charlie. Even Rose is a strong character in the face of her illness. Come to think of it they are all pretty firey. Shannon was the only one who wasn't like this.

2. Do you think there are any stereotypical characters in Lost?
I think their are a few actually. Jack is very much a hero/saviour figure who seems to be in the right place at the right time. Sawyer is your typical hardman who doesn't appear to care about anyone but himself (although more so earlier in the show). Kate is a bit of a tomboy (Probably a feminist as well). Charlie is a rockstar with a coke habit. Hurley is a fat guy who likes his food. There are more complexities to the characters though which means that although I see these character traits they go much deeper than your typical stereotype.

3. When did you start watching Lost, and how did you hear about it?
I started at the beginning and like others saw the ads on Channel 4 way back in 1992. Well it seems that long ago anyway.

4. Can you pinpoint the main reason you enjoy the show, or what aspects intrest you most?
The fact that you can never predict what is going to happen and it gets you thinking. I want to know what is going on, I want answers, that is why I watch it.

5. Who is your favourite character in Lost and why?
Desmond. I think he has the best story behind him, obviously he came to the island in a different way to everyone else which I think is interesting. Henry Ian Cusak plays him brilliantly as well which helps. He also had that great flash-forward episode when it looked as if he was off the island. I reckon the show would be poorer without him.

1. How do you think females are represented in Lost? Strong, independant

2. Do you think there are any stereotypical characters in Lost? Maybe at the beggining as you were getting to know people, but no, not really

3. When did you start watching Lost, and how did you hear about it? The C4 ads got me iterested, i thought it would be another overhyped show but, it deffinately wasn't!

4. Can you pinpoint the main reason you enjoy the show, or what aspects intrest you most? it's not that often that a TV show gets your mind working as much as Lost does!

5. Who is your favourite character in Lost and why? Cant pinpoint one!
