As a player of the LE I have of course been following your thread very closely too.

My thoughts on the Phoenicians are based on the connections between Persephone and therefore Greek mythology which grew from the Phoenicians.

I also like the fact that Phoenicians discovered and used the North Star (Polaris) to keep their bearings at sea. They were the first ones to sail around Africa. They colonized parts of Cyprus and Rhodes and crossed the Black Sea. They founded Tarshish on the coast of Spain and Carthage in North Africa.

Among the items they exported were cedar, pine, fine linen, embroideries, metalwork, glass, wine, salt and dried fish. The country imported papyrus for paper, ivory, ebony, silk, amber, ostrich eggs, spices, incense, horses, gold, silver, copper, iron, tin and jewels. Cedar was very important in the ancient Middle East, which had little wood. The fragrant cedar was much prized. The Egyptian Pharoah Tutankhamen had furniture in his tomb made of Phoenician cedar.

I think that there are references here that the Lost writers have definately used. It is not too far off the mark to assume that the statue is indeed of Phoenician influence, the basis of society as we know it today.

Have just seen a podcast with Chalton Cuse and Damon whatshisname, they have confirmed that "there is more than one group of the other on the island. So they could have something to do with the whole Walt/Vincent thing. The Others that we know maybe unaware of the connection between Walt and Vincent?"

I quite like that idea to. However what about Vincent being like some kind of projection of Anibus. Like torrycoo said earlier i quite like the whole Egyptian theme, but ithink the idea on the Phoenicians being on the island is more plausable.

Re: The Egyptian references, if the statue is indeed Annubis, the Egyptians could well have given the statue as a gift to the Phoenicians for their trade. They were well known for that.

Although it is said that all societies actually originate from the Phoenicians.

My theory on Voodoo Vincent is that he is the guardian dog of the Underworld. The Hieroglyphics on the counter state the underworld and everyone that comes into contact with Vincent dies soon after. He could be the 'Gate-Keeper'.

Hey AR - COOL theory!!! Actuallly liking it much more than my one, damn you! In fact, this might tie in with something I think I mentioned way back when, regarding Jack’s initial appearance in the pilot epi. I pointed out that it was creepy that Vincent was first thing he saw when he woke up in the jungle, and suggested that it seemed like the dog’s arrival might have been intentional since it distracted Jack’s attention away from looking upwards (at the "black smoke" monitoring him?) and down towards him at ground level.

Honestly, is it possible for me to devise a wacky theory and then stick to it?!

A few people on this forum think otherwise about Atlantis but I like that direction. Remember the valley that jack an Co crossed and the bridge colapsed there could be some kind off ruins in the valley.

Before someone posts the city of Babylon is not lost but it was screwed up in the Iraq war by the Americans leveling some of the ruins to make a runway! so in some way it is lost.

Still have not looked in to pandora's box, but have been offered the first three of season three should I or resist the temptation or go for it?

Watched The Mummy at the weekend (good film) the newer version not the black and white version. Mentions of Anubis in this and whispers and black entinty are Also in this.


It's bad when you have lost on your thoughts even when watching another programme or film. Is there a help line or something or is this quite normal of lost fans?

I know I said it before if there is more than one society been on the Island what if this has been an accelerated culture all that has been said with the egyptians romans greek and all the rest have been as Desmond put it in a snow globe.

The Phoenician society I think someone spoke about this on another Thread did they not have the fountain of youth DHARMA might of found it and have been playing around with nature seeing how cultures come and go another wild thought but is that not what this is all about?

Yes i said something about the fountain of youth being the great healing power of the island. Many people believe that the fountain of youth was discovered or created by the Phoenician's and taken to another part of the globe.

This in turn started up the civilisations of the Aztecs and started the whole foutain theory.

If the culture was accelerated and the phoenicians died out they would gave left a great deal of majical and wonderous things for us to discover. Kind of a lost city of Atlantis type thing. Dharma must have discovered this in some kind of weird Davinchi code puzzle hunt and tried to tap into the fountain and other things such as geo thermal energy and zoo-olegy
