okay its been a while since i posted as i had to catch up on episodes and have therefore been away from this forum for about a year. hello to everyone.

My theory is this;
Alvar Hanso after making his millions sent out a search team to track down the black rock, his ancestor’s slave trading ship laden with gold. The ship had been caught in a mini-tsunmi which dragged it into the middle of the island simultaneously destroying the four-toed statue. The search team came back with news of the island and it peculiar features such as its previous inhabitants and electro magnetic anomaly that makes it near impossible to reach. In the meantime the Hanso foundation had set up an initiative for “a better tomorrow” primarily focussed on the numbers which are a method or equation of predicting disaster on a fractal or chaos level, similar to weather prediction systems. A team of psychologists created the spider solution. These are a system of 9 nodes each performing tasks based on the numbers and monitoring of each other in a kind of feedback loop which accommodates the experimenters into the experiment. This team known as the dharma initiative were sent to the island to research several different fields such as genetics, psychology, and spirituality etc. all of this with the goal of limiting the disaster that the numbers predicted. As they continue to investigate the island, (which was largely chosen for its electro-magnetic cloak) they become aware of the presence of the hostiles, descendants of the original black-rock crew, and anyone else that accidentally came across the island and couldn’t leave. One of the disaster prevention projects the dharma initiative was involved in was the artificial manufacture of a godform. There were two relatively unsuccessful attempts at this, the results being the monster and Jacob. The monster and Jacob are both able to implant visions and dreams into whoever they choose. The monster and Jacob work together to bring 815 to the island, knowing as they do that if the disaster thee numbers predict is to be averted then key members of the crew will play a roll. Through causation adjustment the lives of crew members are manipulated through visions and direct requests (through ben and in locke’s sweat lodge) towards a position that will save the world.

yes, yes, and yes.
loved the 1st game and have started the new one. seems like its bigger budget this time...
i read the loop theory, but i'm not to keen on it, it just seems a little too like the purgatory thing, and leaves a lot to be explained...
however maybe there is not one unifying theory; X-files never really managed to wrap everything up into one unifying explanation, but then twin peaks did... although it was not understood by many...
who says theres only one thing going on? maybe the loop thing could be true as well as others...
but for me the thing that seems most significant is adam and eve and the whole light/dark thing i reckon if you crack that well, we'll see.
seems like every mystery is answered with another even more baffling question; may we never get to the end.

Noticed a small hole in your idea about the Hostiles being descended from the slave survivors..

Well around that time before our world became more civilised.. slaves were generally black!

They could be decendents of the crew rather than the slaves.

There was also white slavery, they came from Africa to Ireland (mainly) and took slaves (saw a tv programe on it once!)

It was obviously not as prevalent as black slavery, but it did happen.
