i no michael was in a bad position but how could he contemplate giving up 4 of his friends?! he really annoyed me this episode...as he usually does lol. im jus glad sayid is on the island. at least someone as able to figure out wot the heck was really goin on. jack is way too naive lol. actually, im kinda surprised that sayid convinced him about michael in such a short period of time.
I agree with Kennindra47--no sympathy for Michael here. He didn't *have* to kill Ana Lucia; he could've let Henry escape anyway and claimed it was because Ana was going to kill him. (His word against hers.)
He didn't *have* to follow the Others' orders, either. He could've told Jack and everyone so they could organize an ambush. They would've gone with him anyway.

That's true. But he kinda took risks anyway. Instead of making sure he killed Libby when he shot her, he left her half dead to suffer agonizingly. (She was unconscious, sure, but he didn't check her pulse.)
He also took risks in telling Sayid he couldn't come/persuading Hurley. And this time it looks like it's not going to pay off.
In a way - I could feel pity for him. A true parent will do anything for their child - even kill for them. However - there are better ways. He didnt have to kill them both - he could have worked out a plan to trick the others or something. Killing two innocent people for his son, when he doesnt even know he will get what he wants is stupid

I agree that the parent/child bond is stronger than any other. But I wonder how much it can be said that he was doing this *for* Walt?
Although Walt does not like being with the Others, he doesn't appear to be in any immediate danger. Rather, the threat was that Michael would never see him again. It could be argued that Michael cares more about himself (and his own wish to be with Walt) than he does his son.
The Other woman (what was her name, Miss Clue?!) pointed out that he knew very little about Walt, and of course we've seen this from his earlier flashbacks.
I don't think Michael's heartless or anything. I just think he's lost the plot a bit. If he really valued Walt as a person wouldn't he have taken notice when Walt told him to distrust the Others? Hm.
ahh, almost like he's lost sight of the real reason he's doing all this (to save walt) but going about it the wrong way and perhaps putting walt in even more danger?

oooh, i already know about the boat but im not gonna say cause i DIDNT WANNA KNOW but someone told me anyway somehow i think that maybe the whole michael situation is better this way, and that sayid was right, the losties might have the upper hand now. michael can think he's doing the right thing, and the others can be satisfied, but maybe sayid will organise a group to follow them and perhaps arrange an ambush? i dont know, we'll have to wait 2 weeks now. as for why the others wanted those 4, maybe they are considered as "good"

So the Others want Jack, Kate, Sawyer and Hurley for some reason - but why didn't they just take Jack and Sawyer when they ambushed them? (in Hunting Party, and tonight's E4 epi) They'd already captured Kate too - that would only leave Hurley to take from the beach which probably wouldn't have been that difficult for them. Is it just me, or does this just not make any sense?

We saw more evidence that The Others are'nt who they say they are, Pickett had a syringe and a baggy in his pocket, and we know that the whole seabilly look is a costume.

I thought Ms. Klugh was the scariest Other we've met so far, she seemed very calm and calculated, her first conversation with Michael was a bit odd too.

hmm, its very confusing yes, the only reason i can think of is that maybe they want the stronger ones (sawyer, kate, jack)to get rid of,and then maybe only hurley was one of the good ones

All in all, it was a bit blah tonight I thought. They just took an hour to tell you what you already knew. The only two surprises were the boat and the appearance of Walt. Not the fact he was in it but literally his appearance. What's in "the room". Presumably a torture rack. What are they after? - a basketball team? Why pick Hurley?
