"Lost's Numbers Finally Add Up" (taken from Rachel's Blog)
ABC's online Lost supplement, the Lost Experience, delivered a major payoff on September 8th.
An unlocked video detailed how a mathematician was commisionned by the United Nations in 1962 to calculate the timetable for humanity's extinction. The resulting Valenzetti's Equation was based on factors represented by Egyptian Hieroglyphics, each of which was assigned a numerical value: 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, and 42, aka what would become Hurley's cursed digits. Though the Hanso Foundation created the Dharma Inititiave to stave off the forecast apocalypse, the foundation's impatient acting president Dr. Thomas Mittlewerk is itching to unleash a virus that will snub 30 percent of the world's population.
Fans who followed the Experience may someday experience deja vu when watching LOST on TV. Says Michael Benson, senior vice president of marketing for ABC: "There's no reason [the Experience's events] can't be integrated into the program."

This is the statement we've been waiting for, this further cements the bonds between TLE and the show...
Most definately, the Lost Experience has revealed to us that the number four is the one that needs to be replaced to blow up the planet, or send a virus or kill or what ever...

i found this a couple of days ago it was written on the side of the stuff that ethan injected into claire "CR 481516-23 42" replace the 4 with a 5 and you have the numbers

Medications in a drug testing phase are often labeled Rx-(testing #). Rx is short for the Latin term recipe, used for medical prescriptions.
So maybe CR has a basis in Latin too?
Controlled release CR perhaps....?

That summary doesn't capture everything about the video. There are also trivial things (like what Dharma stands for), and more serious things (like why the blast door map ominously says "the disease worsens with the treatment").
I strongly recommend people watch the video before season 3 starts.

I presume that is temporary, since it is the website of a major cable channel. But if it stays down, I'll try to figure out another way to link the video. It really is must see (though for those who want to avoid spoilers, wait until you've seen all of season 2 before watching it).
