Don't get me wrong ive loved every series! and although the 4th season is awesome I just prefer how LOST was in season 1, watching the repeats on E4 the overall look and feel of LOST has moved on quite a bit, although I enjoy the mysteries LOST has entailed on the way, did any one else prefer when it was less mysterious and more survival and character in season 1?

Its a bit of a no-win situation for me, I loved the fact that I knew nothing in S1, but I also wanted to know more and now love the fact that I have some answers.

I see what you mean. LOST has changed alot since it first started. But if it didn't change then the show would just end from being repetative and boring.
I do miss the whole survival of the planecrash survival guide. At one point the Losties biggest worry was there being no water! lol

It was good, i do get a bit nostalgic for it on occasion...then i remember....No Ben until S2....... ...there is my answer

I know what you mean!! and I liked how they were all one group together but now it's kinda like they're divided.....
but I still love it!!!!!

I loved season 1 as well.There was just as much excitement as there is now but in a different way. I do prefer the later seasons though simply because we now have great characters in them that weren't in season 1. I can't imagine Lost without Ben or Desmond in it now. We have now learned more about the original Lostie's and to me thats more interesting. The whole mystery of the island has become more confusing but less frightening than it orignally was to me anyway...

I was just thinking this same thing the other day, whilst watching "Cabin Fever." Hurley & Ben were sitting together and i was just laughing at how riddiculous it is that these two characters, who before Season 4, never had any real interaction apart from "You're free to go Hurley" were sitting together, sort of reminiscing. And it made me reminisce on how things have changed so drastically from Season 1. Locke is more alone, than he ever was; Hurley, who was usually always at the Island, hasn't been there all Season; Sawyer who was completely sinister is now Heroic, and instead of Jack & Kate, it's more Jack & Juliet.

It also made me think back to how much they've changed Physically too. Sawyer looks so much more Older, more matured somehow. Michael is a completely different character.

The only characters who have really remained the same has been: Ben & Claire. Claire is still quite helpless and needs caring; and with Ben it's still like: "Can we REALLY trust him?"

Another thing, the Newer Seasons of Lost, can never beat is that Season 1 was much much more mysterious. At least now, we know we're dealing with Time and Black Smoke and stuff. Season 1, it was like, "What the hell? Polar Bears on a Tropical Island?!" "What the hell is that thing knocking down trees? Dinosaurs?! WTH?!" "There's a Criminal on the Island? It must be Sawyer, he's just so Villanous!" - Wrong! It's Kate.

Now it's more: "Somebody killed Rousseau and Karl? It must be the Freighter People" - Correct.

Yeah it's become a lot more darker over the last 4 seasons. In season 1 the excitement came out of Shannon having an asthma attack and finding no inhalers... or a few of the losties sailing away on a raft...
now so many characaters are being introduced and being killed off the show has really gained pace and the audience probably won't be content with a food drop being the highlight of an episode!

...maybe a Food Drop with a dead Panda in a tutu....i could live with that....

I dknow I like different things about the series, I prefer Sawyer how he is now, and Jin and a few other characters. But I prefered Jack in season 1 when he didnt think he was leader of the world. I miss Charlie, and Mr.Eko and Shannon and Boone so much Thats a nice thing about season 1 having everyone there (minus the tailies naturally) I liked the mystery in season one of waking up on an island and no one knows where they are. But I like it now that some are off the island.

That's exactly what I meant Niwdog. Less confusing but much more mysterious

I think i like every season for different reasons...i did like 1 though....Polar Bears, BSM, Trees Uprooted, that roaring in the jungle........ahhhhh the old days!

yeah I miss the original series it was so much simpler back then...
The more we see and learn the more brain mashing we have to do to understand it.
But we have some great characters now that we dont have before
Am still mourning the loss of Eko and Danii, (sobs) poor Danii only just got to know her daughter. And what a team Eko and Locke would've made!!!
But the series has to change and evolve and I just hope we get answers at the end and are not left wondering

I feel the same about Eko and Rosseau.
