remember thr truman show? well i think that lost is similar. i think that there is a mainland somewhere over the horizon and that its an experiment so whoever is leading it can control the tides and stuff like that so that the losties cant escape.remember wot happened with the raft they all ended up back on the island!!!well thats it tell me wot ya all think!
That idea crossed my mind a while back, especially after Fenry made his comment about God not being able to see the island any more than anyone else can.
It's an interesting theory and so far I don't think we've seen anything that would disprove it, but I kind of hope you're wrong (no offence!). IMO it would be a real shame if, afte the writers have spent so much time on the programme and we've invested so much of our time in watching it, it all turned out to be an idea that's been done before, and very well at that - I can't imagine they'll execute the idea better than in The Truman Show.
Don't get me wrong, it IS a good theory, but unless they've given it a REALLY good twist I hope you're not on the button.
i think the losties choose to go on the island, and they have enhanced memories! (thats why they're all connected in someway) i think they got to a point in their life where they needed to escape! the hanso foundation wait till theres enough names on the list and stage an accident! the plane, the blackrock,smugglers plane and the hot airballon!

I LOVE LOST (DONT GET ME WRONG) BUT I THINK THERE IS TOO MUCH HYPE SURROUNDING WHY THEY ARE THERE THAT WHATEVER THE ENDING IS IT WILL BE A BIT OF AN ANTI CLIMAX COS EVERY1 IS WAITING FOR THIS BIG TWIST THAT IM JUST HOPING ITS NOT A HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT.

i couldnt agree more with this statement, i also think that people are reading too much into it. i mean have you read that theory by adam smith, about all this black space and stuff just seems to much for a tv show.

Agree they control certain things though- like when locke used to know when it was going to downpour (i stopped watching for a while, did they explain the rain thing??)
