In 'house of the rising sun' we see jin attack Michael because he's wearing his watch and when Michael gets even he says "I found this in the wreckage" now if it was in of the wreckage then it would've fallen off of Jin's wrist in the crash, but if you look at this picture:

That's funny beach crew :-) Right, I've had a look at ep.24. Jin did have the watch in a box. It is gold. He is clearly wearing his own silver watch on the plane. This silbver watch is the one shown in the pic posted above when the plane had just crashed and he was looking for Sun. So the question is not how did Michael get the watch (he found it in the wreckage) but where did Jin's silver watch go.
It broke during the crash, he disposed of it, the end. Although I was wondering how the other watch survived...? Well, t'was in a box and hey, if 48 people can survive (then the others from the tail) then why can't a watch?
P.s. If you didn't know there were tail survivors, you are an idiot. There were soooooo many clues in the first series and if you hadn't picked up on them (Boone and the radio transmission for example) then...well...
