Was anyone else impressed by the performance Joseph Mawle gave as Tim? I felt he really embodied the repressed desire and haunted introversion of the character. Such a tragic portrayal. The tension between him and the other character was palpable, especially the scene where he's begging him to leave whilst crying, torn between his fear and desire. It was a very beautiful moment, despite what you may feel about the under-age sexuality presented. It doesn't hurt that he's a mighty fine specimen of a man either of course. Wink

...yeah both of the actors involved not just Joseph but Luke as well were just fab. The tension just brought a shiver down your spine. It was hard to really judge Josephs character as he didn't say much or do much, but he did the encounter extremely well. and yeah I agree it certainly doesn't hurt at all that he is indeed a fine specimen of man, not at all Wink

I agree it was a shame Joseph's character Tim didn't say more, but nonetheless he acted the part magnificently. It definitely helped that he's one sexy man!

It was the sort of role which I feel is a bit "thankless". No glory or melodrama or histrionics or hero stuff. In a way very little to get ones teeth into.

But I thought he pulled it off extremely well. (No pun intended).
The unspoken inner tensions were almost tangible. I agree with other posters - an excellent performance.

I beleive Tim being relatively voiceless is a dramatic device, that is used to reflect the fact that generally, the Tims of this world are voiceless - and perhaps we need and want to hear their voices more?

I see that Joseph Mawle is playing Jesus in
The Passion on BBC1 during Easter week.
