Was suckling pigs the first night.

Tonight it's kid goats.

Previously (last year) they were adult animals, this year it's animals only a couple of months or so old.

I had to be up at sparrow's fart this morning so I fell asleep fefore it was on.
I saw the last series and it was great. Unfortunately the populous of the western world have become desensatised to this process and until we get right back into the whole nitty gritty of the food process there's going to the supermarkets around to create the conditions that are rampant in the food industry today.

I totally agree with riverghost, that in our society today we are too far removed from the rearing and killing process. I am terribly squeamish but have been watching this show online as i think its important for me to understand what happnes in order to make an informed decision about whether or not to eat meat. The only thing that worries me is that, although th practices shown in the program reassured me that the slaughter of these animals is as humane as possible, i do have doubts about other slaughterhouses being of such a high standard, and clearly with much larger numbers of animals i would expect the standards used to fall slightly

I totally agree about the populace being squeamish about where their food comes from - but often they are just totally ignorant/unaware. Can remember doing home economics in school (a few years back) and a fishmonger came in and showed us all the different parts of a fish, and how its filleted - it was really interesting, but was the first time some people in my class had even considered that their fishcakes etc had once come from a whole animal. Even if you don't go as far as visiting a slaughterhouse, surely people can be a little bit more interested in where their food comes from, or do they really not care?

I wasn't so squeemish as the animals were so well looked after, but i didn't like the blood running out.
The moving and twitching when the animal was on the hook did'nt bother me becouse i knew it was dead.
It is such a skilled and clean process and has made me want to buy british meat.

If only more would take that frame of mind then there might just be a faint glimmer of hope for british farmers & the fantastic produce that comes from many of them
