Obviously all cakes are good, but to get us started i'm going to choose an Eclair full to bursting with cream.

I hear it's uncool now {Roll Eyes) but I loooove a nice Blackforest gateau. Dunno if it counts as a cake but I love those maple syrup & pecan plaits you get in some supermarkets. And Mr Kipling's new Easter lemon bakewells are Mmmmmmmm!
I like my cakes Cool

Cinnamon danish, lovely.

Any gooey chocolate cake, lovely.

Nice rich fruit cake, lovely.

Banana and walnut loaf, lovely.

Carrot cake with frosted icing, lovely.

Karen, blackforest gateaux actually in the blackforest is just miles away from some of the crap frozen varieties you find here.

Cake is good.

Not so keen on lemon cakes or plain victoria sponges.

Cake should have it's own food group.

Carrot cake for me, or me home-made marble cake.

Mr Kiplings sponge cake bars with choc chips are ESSENTIAL when you are pregnant, as I found out.

Carrot cake definitely. Also love hot apple pie with vanilla ice cream, and home-made banoffee pie made by the parent of a little boy I used to teach. Failing that, a fruit scone with jam and cream.

Mmmm carrot cake... love the stuff!

I love the Cadburys choccy gateau things - me and the other half sometimes just sit and stuff one between us with a spoon without even taking it out of the plastic.

Without a doubt, the best has to be pineapple upside-down cake!! With warm custard! It is heavenly, I love it!

schnipps you've reminded me of pear and chocolate upside down cake. Now that is heaven.

The Coffee Cake in their cafes is also lovely Smile.

And do scones count?

Proper Bakewell Pudding, from nowhere but Bakewell itself. Scrummy.

Carrot cake for me, which is getting a surprising amount of votes on here. I'm not really a cake girl, but more of a tarty girl.

A nice bit of lemon tart, or cheesecake is much more my cup of tea.

Pass me the remote love.....

I think we should define 'cake' here too. Are we talking proper cakes or all puddings?

I want to revise my choice - last week I went for a short break in Derbyshire and we visited Bakewell. I had a proper Bakewell slice (not the Mr Kipling junk with icing and a cherry!). It was the most divine thing I've ever tasted! Well worth the 3 hour drive to get there!

Quite right Mrsam, it is known as Bakewell pudding rather than tart and is unique. Absolutely delish!
