I want to bake something nice with my eldest daughter over the weekend, a cake, muffins, biscuits...something like that. We've got tons of chocolate in, milk and white. And all the usual baking stuff, different types of flour and sugar, vanilla, butter, bla bla. I've looked up recipes but most of what I can find is American, and I can't make head nor tail of the measurements or ingredients (semisweet chocolate Confused)

So if anybody's got any nice chocolately recipes they'd like to share, me and my lil one would be v grateful! Smile

I would make chocolate chip cookies - milk chocolate and white ones or maybe a mix of both! You have you eat them when they are warm and the chocolate is still melting. Soz no recipe but if I am sure you could find one on the internet.

I don't know how old your daughter is, Karenjet, but I always have a packet of instant cake mix in the cupboard for when my 6 year old horror gets bored. Some of them are really nice - especially the Cadburys ones. Razz

I'll see if I can find you an easy recipe... Ninja

She's almost 10, Mrs O, and quite good at all this really. We've baked lots of times before but always the same things, plain fairy cakes, banana cake and fifteens. Although we made carrot cake a couple of weeks ago that came out very well, I couldn't believe how easy it was! I thought carrot cake would have alot more to it than it does.

Thanks for the suggestion, chops. I didn't think Brit recipes would be so hard to find. But knowing me I'm probably just looking in the wrong places Roll Eyes

I'm positive I've got a recipe for marble cake somewhere - that's great fun to make..

I'll see if I can dig it out. Ninja

Argh dangnabbit!!

I can't find the recipe anywhere..

Basically, what I used to do was to make an ordinary sponge cake mix, and divide it into 2.

Mix one half with melted dark chocolate, and the other with some finely grated white chocolate.

Put alternate teaspoonfuls in the cake tin, which gives you the marble effect, it's time consuming, but the end result is so pretty when you cut it.

Bake as normal, and then you could even do a marble icing by using chocolate icing, and dragging some vanilla icing through the top.

Here's a couple of easy ones.

Mars Bar Crispies
3 oz marg
3 oz Rice Crispies
3 Mars Bars
4oz melted chocolate

Melt marg and mars bars. Add crispies and mix.
Spread into swiss roll tin.
Cover with melted chocolate and cut when it's set.

Chocolate Crunch Cake

12oz plain chocolate
4 oz butter
Large tin condensed milk
10 oz crushed rich tea biscuits
1oz raisins

Melt 1/2 the chocolate, butter and condensed milk, stir in biscuits and raisins.

Pack mixture into 6" cake tin lined with foil

Chill for 3 hours

Melt remaining chocolate, and pour over cake.

Thank you very much, you two!
I've seen marble cakes but thought it was alot more complicated than that. And I've never put mars bars in the rice krispie ones before.
I'll let the lil lady decide which she wants to make later. Thanks Smile

Well I kinda combined the two. Made the mars bar mixture with rice krispies, and did a white chocolate one too, then put little spoonfuls of each into the same case. She loved it, and I'll save the other recipes for another time. Thanks Smile
