Tonight we had a massive omelette made with me best mates free-range eggs, with spuds, tuna and onion in it, and some herbs, and topped off with grilled cheese.
My husband had to ruin it by smothering it in tomato ketchup and belting it down in 30 seconds flat, and flying out of the door back to work, belching his head off.
Sounds lubberly, Minkey - think I might do steak tomorrow. Trouble is, with hubby working the erratic hours he is, it's finding a time when he's home to cook it, cos in our line of work, anything can happen... That's why I do loads of casseroles and stuff he can just heat up or shovel down when he gets home.
I make up for it on his days off and go for broke, though.
Hi everybody, the good thing about coming on here is you get ideas for dinner when you sometimes can't think what to have. I'm having one of those days so just brought bolognese sauce from the freezer, think I'll just fill cannelloni tubes with it and bung a cheese sauce over the top.
D'oh! Not to worry - when are you back from Mum and Dads? Give me a shout when you are..
You're right, Magsy, it's great when you start to run out of ideas - might try the canneloni meself soon.
Been to our butcher today to stock up - I swear theirs is the best meat I've ever found, and it's all locally sourced, and much of it is free range (it sometimes pays to live out in the sticks). Got chilli and pineapple pork steaks for hubby and I tonight, (Lou won't like them, so she's having chicken nuggets!) going to do them with broccoli and peas, and creamy mash, also a big load of steak mince, and 3 massive chicken breasts, which I'll roast tomorrow and either do a salad or a full roast - dunno yet!
I'm that tired, cos I've just got back into caring and am out til 11 looking after my disabled friend, that I've conked out fast asleep this arvo and have only just woken up, hubby doesn't have a gap til 6, so I better get a move on cos I'm also waiting on a massive Tesco delivery...
Aahhh Bless you Mrs o, we also had a nap this pm, mite be cos we haven't had a day off for 3 weeks, but hopefully mite get Saturday off....keep your fingers crossed!! Sorry to hear you are working so hard, but if its any consolation, I have always admired and respected the work that you do, it takes a very special person, which I felt you were, when I first got chatting to you. Tonite, we are having chilli, and son is having spag bol!!
Sounds like you've got your hands full mrs o. That's nice you look after your friend too it must be better for her/him than a stranger doing it. I've seen your other posts about your butcher and it sounds excellent, I'm in Scotland so we've got good quality meat too.
Aw bless you Minkey and Magsy - what lubberly posts! *is all tearful*
My friend is a wonderful lady, who has multiple sclerosis, and is wheelchair-bound, and she broke her hip on Boxing Day, and only came out of hospital on Monday. I'm a qualified social carer, and am doing all her personal care for her. It's bloody hard work, as she has to use a hoist to aid her to stand, and her son is staying with her, so he is being brilliant and coming to collect me, and drop me home.
Means I have to go back out to her at 10 at night to assist her to bed.
I cooked the tea in a blazing bad temper tonight, not helped by my daughter spilling an entire cup of fruit juice all over the table, and my husband hovering in the background. Think I am hormonal - due on the blob, or pregnant - please pray it's the latter!
Oh don't be hard on yourself, hormones are crap!! As I've said a few times, I can be pretty horrid to the lovely TWS, luckily he must have a pretty thick skin, or is a masochist!! Anyhoo, you would like to be pregnant eh!! Good for you, and will be keeping my fingers and toes crossed for ya!
Oh - and everything's crossed for you having Saturday off, I know what it's like, I once did 9 weeks without a day off, while looking after El Kiddo, and hubby, who was also working his butt off (he is also a carer), so I can sympathise..
i made a big batch of chick curry for the freezer,so mr sizz had curry and rice,i wasn't really hungary so i just had a plate of my pepper dip with grated cheese and a pack of cheese crisps
Anyway tonight we were a bit stuck as to what to have for dinner - still at parents and they could do with a stock up
So...... there was a thread on the BB general forum about quick and easy recipes yesterday. Saw this (courtesy of forum member MsFit) so gave it a bash and it was gorgeous!!
Put 3 chicken breasts (whole) in a large frying pan/wok with some butter and browned slightly. Put them in a baking dish to one side and add some chopped mushrooms and red pepper to the frying pan chicken was in. Let them soften for 5 mins.
Then throw in a tin of campbells condensed mushroom soup. Next, using the empty tin to measure, add a tin of white wine and a tin of grated cheese. Add some pepper and mixed herbs if you like
Pour over chicken breasts in dish and cook at 190c for about 45 mins

So you ordered more than loo rolls and fabric conditioner this time then ?
Should be home saturday afternoon - will txt when me phone finally gets charged
ROFLMAO!
Yeah - been really bad this time, and ordered loads of fresh beef and chicken stock - that's how lazy I am at the mo, can't be ar*ed to make me own...
12 pack of bog rolls and 3 loads of fab softener, loads of fruit and veg, 6 pack of video tapes, believe it or not, so when I'm caring for Carolyn I can still tape Jeremy Kyle... five gallons of fruit juice and some air freshener...

Really nice!
Now that sounds LUBBERLY - and I think I've got a tin of Campbells gathering dust in a cupboard somewhere... might replace the red pepper with a chopped onion though, they and my IBS don't agree for some reason...

oooh sounds uncomfortable! My sister suffers with that
You could use any veg i guess - i just used them as was lying around in the fridge. It really was tasty!
Only thing i'd do different next time is use a slightly milder cheese - i used an extra mature one and was a bit on the rich side and with my funny stomach at the mo thats not good!
I can totally sympathise... my IBS means I have to really watch what I eat - I can cope with spicy and strong stuff, and rich sauces believe it or not, it just seems to be a few things that really trigger it off, and one of them is peppers! I'm one of those folk you will see running off to the loo, Immodium in hand in between courses... Sometimes just eating anything at all will set it off - just one mouthful and I'm out the door and up the stairs. Makes life interesting, I'll give it that!
Tonight - off to in-laws for tea - don't know what we're having cos sis-in-law is coming up and mum-in-law is (hopefully) coming out of hospital. Ann-Marie (SIL) is supposed to be cooking, but she might not make it here in time, so if not, it'll be a takeaway.. JUST the sort of thing to set the IBS off again!

Not happening, but heyhoo, that is part of being self-employed!! We have done a whole year before, so another week isn't bad eh! We haven't had a whole week off for 2 and half years, so whats another weekend!! Anyways, how you feeling, any other symptoms yet, I'm getting quite excited already, haven't got the knitting needles out yet, of course, but still keeping my fingers etc crossed!! Tonite we are having fish and chips, not shop bought, just out of freezer.
