Ooh nice one, Sizz, I'll have a root about on the net and see if I can find some. Immodium usually does the job nicely, but it would be nice to take something that's not medicated so to speak.
Tonight - was planning on doing full chicken roast, but it's daughters birthday party this afternoon and I am already so tired (El Kiddo had me up at 5 cos she's lost another tooth, and was paranoid that the Tooth Fairy hadn't been, and I was caring for my friend for an hour) that I could cheerfully weep, so it might be a roast chicken salady thing with tomato salad and me home grown basil, and coleslaw and new potatoes. In fact, to keep myself awake, I might start it now, then it's all ready for later...
Excuse me while I.... ZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Gawd, mrs o, I was gonna say, how can you do a full roast with a birthday party to do too, there are only so many hours in the day ya know!! Anyhoo, the second choice you made, sounds well scrummy, and wish I was there, I love that sort of food. Sadly or badly, we didn't end up having fish and chips last nite, we were sooooo bad, and ended up having a take-away!! Which may not sound bad, but we usually have that on a Saturday nite, whilst watching Dancing on Ice!! So the problem is, we gonna be sooooo bad AGAIN, tonite, uuummmm, but it is the final eh! And as we are working 7 days at moment, we will work it off.....hopefully!! R.I.P. Charlie Stubbs R.I.P. Snuffles/Padfoot TWS, my man

What is it that you and Mr Minkey do that takes up so much time? You are right about the roast - ended up making all the salads and cooking the chicken before the birthday party (it was at our local child-friendly pub so they did all the hard work) so we could just stuff as and when. Poor hubby is still out working his butt off, and I am so tired I could literally drop, and I've got to go out and help my client to the loo and into bed. I am EFFED if I am cooking tomorrow. It's Mothers Day, and I miss my Mum and I think I deserve a day off anyway. Oh... and I discovered in the middle of the kids party that I'm not pregnant.. Ever had one of those days where you just wished you could stay in bed?

Oohh mrs o So very sorry, at least you can have fun and keep trying eh!! Me thinks you are obviously burning the candle at both ends, and that is obviously taking its toll... please slow down alittle if poss... thats an order! Me and TWS ( Mr Minkey LOL!)do contract cleaning and private window cleaning!! So needless to say, the contracts are 7 days aweek! However, there is a plus side, we work together, R.I.P. LOL Minkey! Mr O and I try and do it all between us, he's very good at it - HOUSEWORK, YOU SMUTTY BUNCH!!! - but we're often not home at the same time, so it gets done as and when we can manage it between us.. he's very good at ironing. You can hire him out for a tenner an hour if you like, he just doesn't have many hours spare. Angel - could have KILLED for roast beef today, as it was, ended up doing some veggie sausages with the last of the coleslaw, tatties and tomato salad that I made yesterday. Didn't eat it as was too depressed and upset about Mothers day, and lack of babies, so I just sat and stared at it, and blubbed a lot. Tomorrow is another day... so might make a big cheesy cottage pie.

PS - Minkey, it's great that you and Mr Minkey work together - that's how myself and Mr O met - we're both social carers, and used to care for a lovely bloke called Harold, who has sadly passed away now, but it was always him and me on the 2-carer visits.
I have a lot to thank Harold for.

*Grabs newspaper* *Beats Mr O over the head with it for waking her up with a jolt at half 6 this morning* Changed me mind - am going to make a meat-loaf instead, with onion sauce and mash, and whatever green veg I've got lurking in the veg rack... leeks... now what the hell do you do with leeks that doesn't involve a white sauce?? *Bungs thinking cap on* *Takes it off again* Any ideas???

Bless him then, and you both, cos IT will happen sooner or later, obviously I won't question why mr o woke you up so abruptly, but can guess, as have the same problem/joy with TWS!! Gawd love them both eh! Tonite we are having lamb curry, and have taken your advice as to using Lloyd Grossman's sauce and just adding other stuff. As it was on offer in Asda, 3 for £2 I thinks!! Ooh interesting, 3 for 2 on Lloyd Grossman's eh? I love his sauces, though I've only tried the Dansak and Dopiaza (both great and low in fat). Last night I did cauliflower cheese and had with the veggie sausages I had left over. Too much cheese sauce involved, I was forgetting that it soaks into pasta, not so with cauli! But never mind, I saved it to do something with tonight. It was luvverly by the way.

Sounds lovely, QS - I love veggies baked in cheese sauce, with roasties.. somehow the combo is very comforting.
Don't know what to make tonight, last night did a tomato sauce with Dolmio and extra bacon, onion, garlic and left-over meatloaf, and fresh egg spaghetti. There's 4 tons of it still in the fridge, cos El Kiddo had a sore throat and just wanted soup, and I didn't have time to eat any cos I had to get out to work. Roll on dinner time....

Yes, and I make it so it's not very fattening as well - use olive oil not butter and semi skimmed milk and I buy mature cheddar so need less of it to get flavour. I've decided I'll have cauliflower cheese again because the sauce has already cooked with it so whatever I do will have an air of cauli about it. What with it though I don't know.

Cauli cheese is scrummy with steak, burgers or sausages, and some form of spuds.. I don't worry about the low fat thing, cos believe it or not, I'm trying to get fatter, but it is just as nice the way you do it. Tonight I've settled on beef, tomato and mushroom casserole, cos I've got loads of all three hogging the fridge/freezer. And it gives me an excuse to use some of me home grown herbs, which are going to get re-potted in a mo cos they are going berzerk - they just don't know it yet. (Does anyone else talk to plants? I just ramble to me herbs...
I've got 8 pots of mint, now, 4 of basil, a massive parsley plant, me dill is finally growing (which I'm very smug about cos it's hard to grow, thyme that's thinking about it, tomatoes and cucumbers seeding, sweetpeas, a massive money tree and it's babies, a huge tree that I haven't got a clue what it is - and that's just in the conservatory.
You want to know the really sad thing? They all have names.

Meatloaf is fantastic comfort food, Magsy My recipe is (for 4) 1.5lb steak mince (best you can get) 1 onion, grated 3oz fresh breadcrumbs 1tbsp fresh herbs (parsley, thyme, basil) or 1 tsp dried mixed herbs 1 clove garlic (I cheat and use 1tsp garlic paste out of a tube) 1tsp paprika 4tbsp tomato puree 1 beaten egg salt and pepper Grease a loaf tin, and line it with greaseproof paper Soften the onion in butter, then add the paprika, cook for one min or so and take off heat When you make the breadcrumbs, whizz them in a blender with the herbs, then add the beef, breadcrumb mix, tomato puree and garlic to the onion. Bind together with the beaten egg, and mix thouroughly, then pile into the loaf tin, levelling the surface. Bung into a roasting tin and add 1 inch of water, cover tightly with foil and bake for an hour and a half at 180. Turn out onto a warm plate. DELICIOUS hot with mash and onion sauce, and a green veg, or cold with pickles and salad etc, or chopped up and added to a tomato pasta sauce.
