What do we like? Given enough hours in the morning and the ingredients, what would you have?

I'd have to have....

Scrambled eggs (with cream beaten in and salt and pepper) with smoked salmon, dill, hot buttered toast and a HUGE mug of tea or 5. With 2 sugars.

Given my financial status, I am stuck with bloody boring toast and marmite and the same amount of tea.

Or oat granola.

Life sucks... - I love breakfast...

If calories and so on weren't a factor, I have been hankering after trying the American breakfast of bacon and pancakes with maple syrup.

Everyone I say that to seems to have a problem with mixing the sweet with the savoury of the bacon but I think it sounds delicious!

I say try drizzling a little honey over french toast (eggy bread) and then you'll understand where I'm coming from!

And I love a traditional english fry up as well.

We go away to a b&b pub once in a while and they serve huge brekkies of:

2 rashers bacon, 2 sausages, fried bread, beans, 2 fried eggs, mushrooms. Toast and cereal if you want it, tea, coffee, juice.

What a treat!

I also fancy having scrambled eggs with smoked salmon, perhaps on a toasted bagel with italian style coffee (half and half strong coffee with warm milk).

This is what we are having on Christmas morning.

Hubby and kiddo don't know it yet.

FULL MONTY

Bacon
Fried eggs
Sausages
Beans
Fried potatoes or hash browns - haven't decided yet
Mushrooms
Baked tomatoes
Black pudding for husband - personally I would rather eat my own earwax, he can even go and cook it himself, I find it that GROSS.
Fried bread

Tons of tea and toast

Bucks Fizz for me. Big Grin

SORTED!

It could well end up around then, queenstomper!

By the time I've slept off the Bucks Fizz and remembered how to cook again, it could even be Boxing Day, so we could be having Chrimbo dinner for breakfast then.

Eek

I'll go along with Mrs O's Full Monty - except - I would have bubble and squeak instead of the hash browns.

Hungry now!

Sod it - Kiddo and I are having bacon and egg butties tomorrow, husband can have one for his dinner when he gets home late morning.

Toast is essential, as is no butter for me, and tons for little 'un.

And tea. GALLONS of it. Fruit juice for El Kiddo.

I AM LEAVING THIS AS A MASSIVE HINT TO MY HUSBAND.

Valentines day = brew (tea) in my massive Winnie the Pooh mug, in bed with toast and marmite (not too much).

That'll do me... Valentine

Never tried it, but I will someday. One that I have tried and DO love is eggy bread (or french toast, whichever name you choose to give it) with honey drizzled on top. Delish.

Found a really good recipe for home made muesli - ok it's a Jamie Oliver recipe (don't even GO there with me and that bloke) but I'll bung it on if anyone wants it.

Here we are! He's called it Pukkola, which to me is the essence of why I really can't stand the bloke.

This is the short version, without the REALLY annoying bits...

8 large handfuls of porridge oats
2 large handfuls ground bran
Handful chopped dried apricots
Ditto dried dates
Ditto crumbled walnuts
Ditto chopped almonds or other nuts

Bung it all together, with some raisins or sultanas

Bung it in a plastic airtight container and it will keep for a couple of months.

To make it-

Cover however much you want with milk the night before you want it, and grate in half an apple per person, stir it well to stop the apple going yukky.

Bung it in the fridge.

Next morning - bung some more milk in, and stir it well. Add half a sliced banana per person, and add some honey to taste.

Chuck some mixed berries in, and a splat of natural yogurt.

(Sounds like a lot of hard work to me, but it does sound delish - and I don't mince my words like he does!)

Have you tried Cauldron linconshire veggie sausages mrsam? I think they are lovely and I'm a meat eater! I choose them instead of meat quite often.

I found Linda M sausages very salty.

Thanks for letting me know that queenstomper and mrs_o. I've not tried them but will now. Sometimes Linda McC's sausages can be a bit dry. Hence all the stuff I pile on them!

I love breakfast! If I have a good breakfast then it leaves me smiling for the rest of the day! At the moment I love oatmeal made with milk, with a big handful of either raisins or blueberries and a banana, then drizzled with honey or maple syrup! it's brilliant especially on a cold morning!
