My favourite marmalade is Cooper's Original Oxford Marmalade - but I notice on the list of ingredients the first item is glucose-fructose syrup. Is this marmalade really "original"? Has it always contained vast quantities of Glucose-fructose syrup?

When I was a child my mother made a year's supply of marmalade in one go, and I don't remember her using syrup of any sort, just Seville Oranges, Preserving sugar and some seasoning, plus, I seem to remember, some added pectin.

You can't trust the word original on ANY food label. It's used all the time even when the food is anything but original!
