I am ever so pleased to say that the last week has prooved that people are wising up to our food and our chicken faming. free range in my local sainsburys(leatherhead surrey) has been sold out all week and all the broiler chickens, breasts, legs, wings.. the lot has had to be reduced because no one is buying it and it needs to be shifted quick. If i see anyone looking to buy any of it i go and stand near them and tell my kids about the sad chickens and that they have such horrid lives and that you should never buy it. put off three people so far ha ha ha. i have chickens in my garden. its not huge but its big enough for my eglu and i appreciate the birds for the wonderful creatures that they are. they have such brilliant personalities and they are very happy and this means they reward us with eggs.
Im still not getting this whole tight budget debate. If your on such a tight budget then use the food properly. no waste. boil the bones, make a stew use it for gravy. buy a chicken once every fortnight, make it free range and i swear you can get three meals from it for four people each time. i have a roast on sunday then i pick it clean and do a bubble or pasta and then boil the bones and use the stock for a risotto or paella or egg fried rice or stew. its really the way forward. i think these people who say they have no budget really mean 'i cant cook' because if you can cook then you really should have no issue with how much you pay for a chicken as it will stretch so far.
If your so strapped for cash then find other ways of saving money. There is plenty of opportunity for making money. the dole is not one of them!!!
some of these people complaing also have three kids or more and if you cant afford to have them then dont. i would love more kids but i cant afford too. the pill and condoms are free!
i think this budget debate should be renamed 'mis education'!
onwards and upwards for chicken out. i really hope this changes the hideous face of chicken farming!!
