Here's another thank you recently received by Channel 4:
I lost both my grandfathers on the Somme. One is dedicated on the cenotaph where I live and I visit every armistice day, but I couldn't find a memorial with my other grandfather on. Thanks to the lost generation web site I'm now close to locating it.
It was in St Augustines church, Basford, Notts. The church was demolished in 1988 but the war memorial was saved, unfortunately it as been left in a stonemasons yard ever since and I'm now awaiting a call to tell me where.
There are 174 names remembered on this plaque, a stonemasons yard is not where this should be and I will do my utmost to resurrect it and get it put back to a suitable place.
The Find a Memorial section on the web site is just what was needed, I tried the British Legion, the Council, even the Sherwood Foresters, ( the regiment he was in ), no one knew where the memorials were.
