Can anyone give me some pointers? I am trying to locate my great uncle, JAMES WASHINGTON TAYLOR but I know precious little. He left England in 1913 after a family fall out and went to either Australia or New Zealand. I do not know which port he sailed from or the name of the ship. He fought on the Western Front as a member of the ANZAC forces. He returned home during this time, found out he wasn't wanted and disappeared and was never heard of again. I just wondered if anyone could give me some clues as to where I might start searching.

Check out the Australian War Memorial site at
http://www.awm.gov.au

You'll find embarkation and nominal rolls, along with a Roll of Honour which often contains NOK details.

You may not have quite enough information to pin him down, but it's worth a look as it's a fantastic site which may be helpful to you in your search.

I wish you luck with your quest.

I'm an Aussie and have several links (military and civil) that may be of use to you, have you found any details yet?

Thanks

Amy
