Saskia was a solid, good player the whole game. But something bothered me about her win. I do not doubt whether had she’d gotten there first she would have chosen the right grave. However it went down to Marianna choosing the wrong one. I just feel the program makers should have made Saskia solve the challenge, not just get the grave by default. Anti-climax. Though rather touching and she was a worthy winner.

The fantastic element to the last episode was the return of Mr. Nat. And although I have a particular fondness for Simon (please don’t stone me), Nat is just fantastic. If he hadn’t been booted out for territorial reasons, he could have easily made the final.

Oh wow, just read Saskia’s blog about the cheques and such. Fun Fun. Moral fiber. Apparently she reads this, I would just like applauded her! Though screwing over Marianna would be similar to drowning a kitten, I do believe many would renege on such a contract. I am impressed.

Lol well if she's reading this - congratulations Saskia, hehe. In fairness, she deserved the money. Though I think out of all the contestants, Suzie was perhaps the best simply cause she'd studied code breaking styles - and so if she'd stayed longer I think she'd had proved how ace she can be. She did brilliant in the final ep.

I loved Marianne's comment "if you see a blonde girl and a very camp man, can you speed up?" - very funny. I also really liked the shot of Saskia and Nat absolutely legging it to the main Edinburgh castle entrance, with a golden sun in the background. It was very dramatic. Also quite liked how the tourists stared at em Smile

Very glad Saskia won... I think she deserved it the most.

The end was a bit anti-climatic though.
It all come down to luck.. would have been better if it was a problem or something.
And I thought Jamie would have said a little somehing to round it all off.

I never knew they were in Edinburgh!! That's were I live.
I could have went to see them filming!!

Absolutely brilliant final, recognised a lot of it as Edinburgh is only 20 miles from me. Was screaming at the telly when Marianne was digging in the wrong grave. I felt so sorry for her. Saskia on the whole deserved to win if you look at all her achievements throughout the series but the fact that Marianne on the day was ahead only to fall at the last hurdle was such a disappointment, it would have been nice for the underdog to win. Just sent off my comp entry, fingers crossed.

Well I must say I did really enjoy the Search - I liked the locations, and learning some history, and there was some code-cracking elements but nothing we could really take part in as they never really showed you the codes for long enough.

I thought it was pretty badly planned and put across though - I mean there are camera crews all over the place, so as soon as one team arrives in a spot they should see where to go because the others would be highly visible, and what really annoyed me was when they seemed to have no clue about what was happening, and then there was some VT with one of them saying "and then I just thought, ooh what if it's to do with so and so" like they got a HUGE prompt from the crew.

I was pleased that one of the 2 girls won, although I would have liked Marianne to win slightly more Smile

Overall a good series, it was very similar to Codex which I also enjoyed - be entertained and learn some stuff at the same time!

I hope they do something like it again with better challenges and more participation.

Oh, and anyone here win the viewer's challenge? They said they would put up the answer and the winner yesterday but they haven't!

I guess they haven't been able to contact the winner yet. Competitions online I think usually notify the winner before posting their name (or so I'm told... I've never won anything other than a poster on the net lol).

Its sure not me, I'll just have to keep dreaming.
Good news about the award nomination, I hope Channel 4 will have another go with sensible scheduling next time.

They probably have the same lack of interest in the competition as they seem to have developed about the programme!!

I think I will contact them and see if it is because they can't contact the winner or if they just didn't think anyone would be interested.

Or maybe they don't want to give anyone the prize cos they want to save money!

This was my reply:

"Thank you for your comments, we are working hard to update the site, please bear with us and check back soon".

Do you think they actually read these emails, or just send back a stock reply to try and keep us off their backs?

I mean, what needs to be done, a name posted on the site. It would take 2 miniutes!!

Well done Emma from Watford.
At least I can bask in the small consolation that I got the answers right! Better luck next time, perhaps Jamie may make another series one day or channel four will read and answer every email personally within 24 hours. Is that a sphinx I see flying past?
