I noticed all your other threads but they've all been closed, so I'll just say what I wanted to say here.
I understand you're upset, but it's the people that make a forum- not the surroundings. It was suggested you all move into this forum, so what's the problem? You have all the same people, and you'll be able to talk about all the same things.
I'm not trying to justify the forum's closing- but surely it's not the end of the world!
I see they have also removed the Salvage squad forum as well.
No more talk about the lovely and talanted claire then?

We really have dinosaurs today, without any question. You just need the right weather conditions, as I see it, to get huge creatures. And in the ocean, of course, we have huge creatures....this is where the plesiosauruses seem to be today, and perhaps also this fire breathing dragon is still down there -- very rare, but occasionally there.

I appreciate that they're different things but what I was trying to say was that as long as you have the same people, you can discuss the same things- just it'd have to be in a different forum.
It is a bit silly that he's been banned, but he was risking it when he posted multiple topics in all the forums.
(BTW- I'm not saying I think he should have been banned, just that I know what C4 are like and therefore that perhaps it was risky posting multiple topics because it was inevitable that it was going to anger them...)

I don't think you would be able to discuss the same things. That's the whole point.
It is an odd forum the TT one Sars but odd in a nice way...
We have regional threads where people from the same area discuss things, people have built and provide websites and articles online for that area only, we have meet ups where like minded poeple get together for a day in a place of historical or archaeological interest, we argue like cat and dog sometimes but it doesnt bother us on the whole, there are fun threads sometimes, they in turn can turn serious now and again, the biggest point in all of this is that we have one common interest and that is a television programme called Time Team and that isnt perfect by a long way hence the debates on the forum.
Concepted in '97 it has had its ups and downs, particularly through rough patches where some topics have generated vigrous and heated debate that would make some things here look like childs play.
If C4 want to put a stop to all of that then fair enough it is up to them but for crying out loud you can not blame or ban people just because they would like top put their opinions diasagreeing on a message board run by them, that is the whole point of them being there, to provide debate. They ar not infallable.
Do I get banned for saying that or is my opinion a fair and honest feeling of how I view the subject?
My particular interest in archaeology is very insular, I do not apologise for that, in fact I am proud of it, it has no place here though, none at all.
If a moderater dictates that my post can not stand then I shall accept that online but disagree off but I would hope that within the realms of robust debate it is allowed to stand, I can not see anything in it that deserves it to be withdrawn.
I'm fully prepared to enter the debates on this website if the TT forum closes. It would suit me very well as my interests are broad, but I just hope the regulars here are not affronted by a sudden flush of threads on topics that seem a bit - off topic, if not positively whimsical. We do ramble sometimes ! I've been with the TT foum from day 1 but I can be flexible if History Forum can.
As one of the more reasonable moderators on these forum has got me reinstated I can reply to you now Sars. It was unreasonable of CH4 to ban me for protesting against what I saw as an unjust move on their behalf, freedom of speech and all that...but what the hay. Now if this closure happens would this forum and its moderator put up with chit chat about-sport,hobbies,relationships,health problems and even a virtual pub?....probably not.Time Team forum exists to discuss a show which is shown daily on either cable/Sky/CH4/S4C not just the present CH4 run.Love it or hate it this show sparks sometimes hostile debate which would never be allowed here. And btw how many HF posters post on TTF and find the subject of archaeology interesting, not many I'd guess? I sense conflict ahead

Interesting you knew what I got banned for,but I wasn't told

I don't know that for certain- but I would be almost 98% sure that was what it was for.
I suppose it is quite unsettling & I could imagine uncomfortable moving in on what you see to be "someone else's ground", and I can imagine that it also will feel quite difficult to post what you would have comfortably posted in your own forum.
I just hope that the people here in the history forum can understand your situation and make you guys feel as welcome as possible.
And I still think you should report your earlier post, D, to make sure a moderator reads it. I hope I clarified why I suggested this?
I very much doubt it- judging from the amount of my posts that have been deleted over the time here, (even ones in French which were completely innocent but the Mods evidently just don't like not being able to understand!) I think there are enough to check all the posts that get reported- I can't imagine there are that many anyway.
Being a moderator is an aggravating job that can lead to a short fuse and limited tolerance I'm told. Luckily there's one forum I visit that has a moderator who gets stuck into the fray and she is just wonderful. Freedom of speech is something worth fighting for and always under threat. I think it's reasonable to object to actions and ideas as long as you avoid virulant personal attacks and threatening language. I don't always succeed I might add.
TT forum has five times the active threads and may be challenge for History Forum to digest. If I were a HF regular I might object to mass immigration.
