There was a great one called Byzantium the "Lost Empire" which was made by discovery about 10 years ago and is a four part series. John Romer presented and wrote it. Its been made available for free on open source via google video or You tube.

Thanks Tomus, I'll track that down. I think its high time those devious East Romans were revisited by some reputable TV historians. Dust off a few of Procopius' more scandalous tales and you'd have a show that'd be accurate to its source (if not actually to history) and make Rome look tame.
