Am writing a novel at the moment and am putting the main character through some very trying times and want to convey his courage as vividly as possible.
Is courage doing something that we would deem dangerous or brave or the person knowing what they are going into but still carries on?

Thanks for any help!
I forgot which Roman general quoted this but kcourage could be taught to children. So by the time they were ready for war they had a certain conditioning that helped them face there tasks.
