Many years ago, maybe during the early/mid 90's(?), there was a UKtv drama-documentary about the huge 1070-1 revolt from within the lethal Ely marshlands, led by Hereward the Wake and other prominent 'outlawed' English nobles against the rule of King William I.

It was filmed on location similar to Ely marshes and re-enacted the brutal ambush guerilla warfare fought by the Anglo-Saxon rebels against the Norman troops.

But I can't remember it's title, or even the production team behind the project(Timewatch? Horizon? etc) The Beeb has replied to my email saying it wasn't their tv show. I await ITV and Channel4's replies.

I've tried torrent searches, googling history sites & keywords, Imdb.com, posting on many history sites and emailing the [then] two tv companies that could help (BBC and C4).

Thanks if anyone has any good ideas.

If you go to the imb database and type in Hereward, it comes up with a 1965 TV programme which starred Alfred Lynch. Perhaps you saw it as a repeat?

Thanks, I'd already tried Imdb.com, and apparently all footage of that 60's TV series got trashed years ago- only the trailer survives.

So God knows what it was I watched years ago?
