Please feel free to leave any hints or tips for unsigned bands. It could be as simple as how to share costs at gigs, through to, health and safety issues to deal with at gigs. unsigned bands should unite! cheers scape.
My mates in bands have always said to have a good business plan: If you want to get a manager, know what you want from them. If you don't want a manager and instead want to do it yourself then each member should tackle a different side - one can handle promotion (fliers, myspace, 4unisgned, facebook, sending out CDs), another can sort out bookings etc.
Oh and get yourselves known in the local scene and drum up a huge following there. Try and get a regular slot and get local school kids/pupils to support you.
That said, these are probably all very obvious (sorry!) and I have no musical talent so please don't take that as gospel, that's just what i've heard over the years.
