The official word from Channel4 HQ is that they are unsure whether MobileAct will be back next year but that if it is, all 4unsigned bands will be emailed in plenty of time to apply.
Perhaps if there is enough interest on this forum that might help bring the show back to the TV...
i think it would be cool if mobile act came back to our screens.. its nice to see a show where people showcase their own material; rather than the hopeless plethora of kareoke competitons that plague our screens.
and if you could fix it so i could win the next one too.. i'll split my last crumpet with you
if you want to see how popular an unsigned band competition would be check out the road to v website. Although it seems the promoters are screwing the bands over having already chosen the finalists with 10 days to go and ignoring bands who have huge votes from the fans the site still attracted over 2000 bands. ok a lot of what there is only work in progress and the usual indie stuff but there are some jems. have been following a band 'st peters' a sort of bob marley santana fusion with modern african twist. amazing vocalist/songwriter and sweet guitar work. they had nearly 200 votes almost all 5 stars and didnt get a sniff. lets make sure any channel 4 comp gives the bands a genuine chance its all they ask...
