firstly I would like to personally thank Jamie Oliver as he made me aware of all the down falls of school dinners, I went on a huge guilt trip and cried for a week as I had been such a bad mother for not knowing what was being fed to my kids and I was beating myself up for trusting the system with my kid's health since then I am heading a "feed me better committee" at Lady Hastings Primary School in Thorp Arch and I would like to announce that only a year on and we have banned twizzlers, reconstituted meat, 80% of the food is cooked on the premises and the cherry on the cake came today, we will be having fresh meat in the next few weeks, we are still working on getting more organic ingredients and although we only have 3 vegetarians at the moment, we feel that more needs to be done for children with all special food requirements. Within the food topic, we also look at ways to get our kids to be more enthusiastic about food and we have had the idea that it would be nice to have a chef come in once a term to chat to the children and even maybe cook for the kids, would you accept an invitation and if so how do we go about organising your visit. Thanks again for all your work and I hope my message will give you the courage to go on.
Well done for your moves away from processed food LouLou, but in our area we got rid of twizzlers over 18 months ago, and we've had fresh meat from the butcher for about 15 months. It seems that there is a bit of a time lag between you and us.

Hi Lou Lou Well done for your efforts. Don't know how well you'll do getting JO to visit but if I am not mistaken, you're on teh doorstep of LUFC's training ground.
Perhaps they have a chef (should be nutritionally trained) and also perhaps some young players who could be persiuaded to come and enthuse about healthy food and lifestyles.
Always think looking to your own area is worth while. Also, they might consider 'sponsoring' some sort of campaign.
nah, jamie oliver hasnt got a clue about vegetarian children,he thinks that he can just shove horrid vegatable lasagne or pasta down their throats, hes a big joke, has not got a dam clue, like most of the supporters on here for him, pack ups are easily the best way of really knowing what the kids are eating, not some SLOP served up in a tin on the floor. i really think that jamie oliver and company should CLEAR OFF.LOVE JJ
