Person A is going out with person B (and has been for over a year) and claims to be in love with person B. But despite this they are more friends than partners and there is very little sex in their relationship. Both have slept with other people but are still together. Despite claiming to be in love with person B, person A is known not to be happy with their relationship.

Now, there is this person C and person A and person C have known each other for a while. They have both recently started sleeping together on a regular basis, person C knowing full well that person A is in a relationship however is aware that person A is not happyin their relationship.

So who is in the wrong? All of them? None of them? And to what degree?

Having been on the receiving end of such a triangle my views are:

A relationship is based on trust. Each person needs to be happy with a partner and no relationship can work without trust. It's not all sex, sex, sex ( tho it's nice!! ) TRUST and HONESTY are to me the most important.

Great Chewie! always thinking with your stomach!!

Meh, A is mostly in the wrong.

More importantly, which one are you?

I think A & B need to work out their problems, C should back off for now. Then if A & C end up together in future (once A&B have called it quits or whatever) then that would be fine.

I don't think C wants a relationship with A (and vice-versa).

And I'm person F, a_r.

In my opinion....
Person A and B sound more like a sibling relationship than a couple. The fact they seem too indifferent to make the break means that the relationship is doomed. I knew someone in a relationship like this and it went very bitter in the end.

I do find their relationship quite weird myself, if I'm honest.

As Sammie said, sex is not the be all and end all. But if they are having sex with other people and not bothering about it, then the relationship is kinda over in a sense anyway. They are probably just in a "comfort zone" with each other and can't bear to break that up.

person c is obviously(sp) a moral person who is aware that people in relationships have a commetment to each other but can see that the realtionship is not working and rather fancies their chances. Big Grin

Yeah I'd agree with that Brands. They probably know its wrong, but like A. Although if they dont' actually want a relationship maybe its just a sex thing for A & C (both not getting any and wanting it!!).

OK, now it's time for the twist.

Person A has very rich parents, they own a very famous company. Person A is therefore also rich. Person C would usually feel guilty about sleeping with someone in a relationship but thinks that person B is with person A because of person A's wealth. This makes C feel less guilty.

Is person C trying to use this to excuse their behaviour?

I don't think C should use that as an excuse. I mean they may not like B, but they are still in a relationshiop with A and that means they shouldn't be sleeping with someone else.

A and B are both wrong for staying in the relationship with eah other - if they are both sleeping round then it is irresponsible and unfair on each other.

Person C is also in the wrong for sleeping with person A (did they sleep together?) when C knows that A is still in a relationship, however vacant that relationship may seem.

I think C is using this rich business as an excuse, but i think they are all in the wrong, and need to sort themselves out and realise what they want before the triangle goes any further.

i'm not very good at relationship advice tho...

I think don't think STDs are an issue, I'm pretty sure they practice safe sex.

well, at least thats one thing. but it just seems like a big muddle of cheating and unfaithfulness. they all need to sort out who / what they want.
