This I believe is an argument greater than the chicken and the egg. How do you pronounce scone? Do you pronounce it so it rhymes with "gone" or so that it rhymes with "cone".

I personally say scone so that it rhymes with "gone". The other sounds too posh.

I may never live this down but I say sone so it rhymes with cone.

I just tried it rhyming with 'gone' a few times and it makes my tongue feel wrong - it makes it try to reach the roof of my mouth - is wierd.

I say it both ways...

Scoooowwwwnnnn for special occasions...and scon whenever the feeling takes me... Ninja

lol No really, I just say it both ways, I don't think about it, it depends how the people around me at that moment say it I think... But I'm just weird Big Grin lol

Oh, and the egg came first cos it had to evolutionise (I made that word up, but you get what I mean Big Grin ) before, and then some weirdo bird would have layed an egg then that evolutionised egg would be a chicken

It makes sense to me Ninja

Scon... My accent really makes me feel common sometimes!

Imagine reading like a mars bar packet 'Soft Noooooooo-gaaaaaaaaahh with caramel' etc etc.

It's just wrong...

It is Scone as iin cone how can you say that is posh, I'm from South Yorkshire we probably have the least posh accent in the country (besides Scousers and Brummies lol) We don't talk posh at all, saying as in gone sounds wrong.

No one ever talks about extermination. They just do it. And you go on with your lives, ignoring the signs around you. And then one day, when the air is still and the night is fallen, they come for you. Only then do you realize that while you're talking about organizing and committees, the extermination has already begun. Make no mistake, my brothers, they will draw first blood. They will force their cure upon us. There is only one question you must answer: Who will you stand with?
