Whats happened to Green Day? They were one of the best punk bands around a really amazing band. but what has happened to them. They have turned in to nothing more than ordinary. Green Day were on of my favorite bands. With great songs like Basket Case and Welcome to Paradise. but now there songs aren't hugely bad (like james blunt or some one) but is still not good. does any one agree or does any one think that they are better now than before, or any one who doesn't really know.

american idiot paved the way for one or two spinoff hits such as basket case. but after them people realsised the rest of there music was sh!te and stopped buying their music.
I just can't understand the change why would such a great punk band turn so carp? there songs were amazing. I don't understand why so many people liek them now eand BOBD is one of there worse songs yet people seem to regard it as one of there best! i really don't get some people

I've grown up listening to Green Day, and I can safely say they are one of my favourite bands.
They released Basket Case years ago, and it was an amazing song. The released American Idiot about a year ago, and it was an amazing song.
Green Day have been a bad since they were fourteen years old, and they still have the quality they had when they brought out Basket case, than they do now. Which is what makes them a brilliant band. They have managed to become such a famous band without losing their style of music, or changing in any way.
Their last album was just as good as their first, and IMO, they will never let the fame get to them.
Green Day were never that great a band, though they've certainly got worse. But don't be surprised - that's what happens. It's called selling out. I am a big fan of Metallica's older stuff, but then they sold out and became mainstreama, and more over, crap. Okay I'm not expecting many else to like them personally.
Punk in itself I find a very bad genre of music - listen to Refused though - punk at its best.

I have their new album (Bullet In A Bible) And I think that's good.
Apparently their taking a break until they're starting their new album

PLEASE guys dont argue about how good or bad a band is. good-natured discussion is fine, but when people start getting downright mean about not only the bands but also each other, it gets out of hand.
i like green day - my own personal opinion, and i dont expect to be looked down upon because i do. i dont expect people to cast aspersions on my taste in music because i do. i dont look down on people who like rap and r'n'b, which i personally really dont like

Oh great, so we can't state our opinions because that's "mean"... if we;re insulting others then that's unfair, but we should be free to criticise music at our own will.
And well I don't think people should be looked down on for not liking any bad - in particular Green Day...

People change and they grow up, that is why their music changes. If they were playing the same stuff now as they did when they first started they would lose their fans because their music would be 'samey'.
Personally I like them and I like a load of stuff. Just because someone doesn't like them or do like them doesn't make them abnormal. Makes us all individual, which is a good thing.

thats not what i said, theinspiration. stating your opinion is fine - but being rude about other peoples preferences or themselves isnt acceptable because noone should be made to feel unwelcome on this forum. if someone has said something you find offensive, simply tell them nicely that you dont appreciate the comment, and why. critisizing the music is fine too, but dont just say 'its cr@p' without a reason!
