How come 4 didn't get its hands on it, don't tell me Five has pouched the next lot of SG-1 from four as well.

Its ok, gets better as it goes along does Atlantis, but SG-1 still makes it seem weak and pathetic (still better than Star Trek or Star Wars though)

well the SG-A dvd's are out now, so buy them, and deprice Five of the money needed to buy cool programes from under channel 4's nose.

its all murdochs fault not only does he manipulate the silly manipulatable part of the world society through his media empire he is also giving channel 5 money to pouch shows which are way to good for it.

If only the world remembered that australia used to be a penal colony, then they'd have made sure he didn't get any power.

if you haven't seen series 8 the opening episode of atlantis gives away some info of the first two eps of series 8, so if you don't want to know what happens at start of series 8 try to avoid it! but atlantis is still a quality program loved every episode and can't wait till the next series!

At least with it being shown at 8 pm we should get uncut episodes. But I agree that it's really annoying that it clashes with "Scrubs". For one, I'll be taping "Atlantis" and editing out the ad breaks, so can't watch or tape "Scrubs" at the same time; and secondly, because it's up against "Scrubs" it might not get as many viewers and quickly be relegated to a really late night slot or dropped altogether.

there are probably many people who don't watch scrubs (shock i know) that will watch Atlantis, so i dont think it will get relegated! also im sure many people will record one and tape the other so it will still be ok!

Depends, if they get SG-A sponsored by someone willing to pay a bit of money it could stick.

I've not seen any trailers for it yet, so Five aren't exactly giving it the big sell. Maybe they'll start next week but I would have thought it cost them enough that they'd be really pushing it hard.

This is going to sound like sacrilage, I've been a big fan of SG-1 since it started, but if I have to choose between the two shows it would be Atlantis every time! Even over Scrubs, and yes I know that it's a bad day when that happens. I seem to have developed an addiction to Atlantis, I just love to watch it over and over and over.... If it gets cancelled cos 5 don't sell it enough to an audience there will be hell to pay.

oh and I'm not as new as i seem, it's just that the last time I was here was so long ago that they shut down my account so i had to set up a new one, the pooter died and it took this long for me to get a new one.

Atlantis is ok, SG-1 is far better for me though, that said towards the end of season 1 it was approaching that goodness.

Oh well I'm glad that I got the Dvd's now of Atlantis as I can't get five and can not get freeview which only leaves shelling out a load of money per month to sky. Frown

Btw does anyone know if the box set of Season 8 of Stargate SG-1 will have the glyphs like the separate Atlantis dvds have got.

Thanks Smile

But sometimes that's worse: unless you keep track of it on the net like we do you'd never know it had moved! You'd just assume it had been cancelled.

I NEED a Stargate anomonouos! Sometimes I can't work cos the cravings are so bad, I just drift into another galaxy in order to maintain minimal sanity levels. It's really bad.

how can you compare one season of atlantis to 8 seasons of sg-1! yes atlantis is really good, but there has only been one season of it! who knows how the next will pan out! sg-1 has been good solidly for 8 seasons, i'm sure atlantis will continue to be a great series. but to compare it to sg-1 after just one series, its impossible!!!!

Atlantis is fresh and new. At the moment I am about 5 steps ahead of SG1, I can just predict it as it goes along so it has lost part of the mystery for me. That's not to say that it isn't good, but something about Atlantis just really appeals to me at the moment. It's too interestingnot to want to watch it time and again, especially since I pick up something different each time I do.

Yes, Atlantis is very fresh and new compared to SG-1, which in Seasons 7 and 8 has started to go a bit stale, IMO. They struggled with the lack of Richard Dean Anderson - not because the series can't go on without him but because they didn't know what to do with the storyline to make up for his absence. Season 9's going to be interesting - I look forward to seeing how they cope with the introduction of several new characters.

After reading the stargate mag season 9 should be excellent and some of the bits they gave make it look like it is going to have some excellent episodes.
